Who is our base?
and are they motivated in this election? What happened to the spirit in anger after the 2000 elections? Of course DUers are motivated, because we took the time to find this site and we are political junkies. I am talking about other democrats who have voted before or are at least registered democrats.Something is just not connecting.
Should Kerry utilize the Edwards even more to reach out to the traditional base?

1. Who 'r us? (sorry, couldn't resist) JE and EE are working their combined
behinds off already! The time will come when all of our stars will get air time on network TV and this will help our base realize hope/help is on the way and they just need to get out there and vote.

2. I'm sorry I'm not sure who you think is on this site but I have voted for
30 odd years and I am Kerry's base. I'd say anyone who is not a rich elite money hungry ass. or a complete moron. With a few less for Nadar and the likes. So most of America

3. Me 2
I live in a mill town and there are people out here that feel that no one is looking out for their interests. Hell, some of them are saying that they are going to vote for Bush and their unemployment extensions are about to run out! Now, what is wrong with this picture.
I am not even going to start talking about blacks(I'm black) they are just sick and tired of being sick and tired.
The local NAACP is coming up with some strategies and I will definitely post those on here to spread the word and ideas.

5. You know it just occured to me, really mad people are the base.
All of us are sick and tired of the little turd in the WH. I hope the black people are not to sick and tired to still kick some ass. I hope there are a lot of people making sure Florida as well as other states don't get messed up.

6. I agree
and Kerry does not seem to be connecting with them. That's why I feel maybe the campaign should use Edwards more for this very reason.

Before someone post, I am sure the campaign is already doing this.I am just voicing what I am hearing around me.

I am working with some black organizations to try to address this problem. Its a shame that bush seem to be able to connect better with poor white people than Kerry is able to connect with working and middle class black people.

7. In Ohio, Edwards had an event at a black church, and, because they only
had two weeks to organize OH, Edwards could only meet the pastors AFTER the event. Because of that, the pastors didn't really push the event for their congregations (although it was a full event). After their meeting -- after the event -- the pastors LOVED Edwards and felt terrible that they hadn't pushed for him.

Because he doesn't have a long history in politics, he doesn't have the built up relationships. But his ideals and his biography more than make up for the lack of connections.

You're right. Black America loves this man once they get to know him.
