48. Rather just moved from "Uber Anchor" to "High Lord of News" status!
The guy is either seriously whacked or he has caught THE big fish, and is just taking his time reeling it in...no one can be that confident unless they are insane or correct.

8. I saw it too, the woman who began the introduction appeared
condescending and thought it funny for she gave that same smiling smirk that is becoming so familiar amongst bushies these days, Mr Dan Rather held his own, a class act...

He kept telling the reporter, it is nice to see you and smiled the whole time...

11. He was departing his plane in Grapevine texas, the reporter
and camera man followed him from the time he got off until he got in his car, not once did he look upset or put out, he is so much better at this than these new pompus wanna be journalists. Again, I say a real class act..

15. Well it isn't Dallas Fort Worth so I am not exactly sure?
I didn't notice anything that looked to familiar but perhaps I wasn't looking that well. By the way I saw this on Fox, now the reason I kept turning back to faux was that I would go to cnn then to msnbc, both channels doing stories that honestly in my opinion did not at this time deserve such repeating.

It seemed like cnn and msnbc decided not to run with the real news of the day? Almost like they were forcing people to tune into faux but well, I ended up watching reruns of reno 9/11, it was more interesting than faux where you do not make up your mind about a newstory but are pretty much told how to think..

It really should be illegal the way they keep saying their network is so fair and balanced and that they report the news you decide? Talk about misleading...

26. Yeah, but he's from HOUSTON -- far from Dallas/Grapevine.
Sounds like he's doing some work on the memos.

Grapevine, Texas is where DFW is located. It's a suburb of Dallas, between Dallas and Ft. Worth, in Tarrant County.

47. I'm guessing he had just flown into DFW Airport
and someone caught him in Grapevine. Being as close as it is to DFW Airport (and in the runway path), I kind of doubt there are any airports in Grapevine.

Abilene is three hours by car west of Fort Worth.

Hmmmm...

39. Ha ha ha...Fox "analyst" who was rejected by a College Republican
group for a speaking event, because she's "too controversial".

One need only read some thorough criticisms of her new book that encourages racial profiling to see how unworthy she is of trying to impugn someone else's journalistic standards or ethics.

24. I saw this too
It was wonderful how he just kept walking and was so pleasant and the faux guy seemed to be the one who was uncomfortable and clumsy. And that line about do you feel duped working for faux said in such a friendly way. Do you think Dan Rather has another surprise up his sleeve? Or maybe he just feels good to have his spine back and not be cowering behind the BFEE. Like a kid who is tired of running from a bully.

29. If Rather flew in at DFW (in Grapevine) then he's gonna meet Burkett.
I doubt this would be in the small town where Burkett lives because, well it's too small for private interviews. Abilene's bigger, but not big enough. My guess is that they are meeting up in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Largest city near Abilene is Fort Worth.

38. NYT agrees
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/09/19/politics/campaign/19guard.html?pagewanted=print&position=

Several people involved in the reporting process said Mr. Rather and Ms. West flew yesterday to Texas, where they were to meet with at least one man who has been identified as a source for the report, a former Texas Air National Guard officer named Bill Burkett.

An executive involved in the investigation said the network was leaning on its initial sources to come forward and help resolve the questions, preferably by speaking publicly about how they got their hands on the documents.

Maybe he can do one with MacDougald too? Then we can see who people want to believe. A career military officer who was an eyewitness to W's records being purged, or a freeper trial lawyer, who is suddenly a self made typewriter expert?

40. ha ha, good one dan, FOX likes to hound people like this
O'Reilly's thugs were stalking Clinton at the DNC, she was giving a speech and they were shouting "why won't you go on Bill's show/When can we book you?" The Faux and Friends morning fascists used to also repeatedly hound some UN guy when they were pushing the Oil For Food non-scandal.

43. Ratings for "60 Minutes II" must be skyrocketing! Dan Rather knows what
he is doing. He's got a story that's TRUE, and he's going to build a Wednesday night audience for it. If there's one thing that can bring back investigative journalism, it's sharply higher profits for CBS investigative reports compared to bland "infotainment" on the other networks.
