Our School District Compromised On Obama's Speech Today After All...
This was posted on their website this morning;

President Obama to Speak to Nation's Students

On Tuesday at approximately 12:00-12:20pm, President Barack Obama will deliver a historic address to the students of America. During this special address, the President will speak directly to the nation's youth about persisting and succeeding in school. The President will challenge students to work hard, set educational goals, and take responsibility for their learning.

XXXXXXX Middle School and High School students will be given the opportunity, if desired, to view the President's historic speech at designated locations around their school. Since participation in the speech is not mandatory, students in grades 7-12 who do not wish to view the speech will remain in their classrooms or the cafeteria. Students who are unable to participate because of their schedule may view the speech at home at a later time at www.ed.gov. The speech will be taped and available to all students and parents after the live presentation at 12:00pm at the www.ed.gov website address.

For any students in grades K-6 the District recommends that parents view the President's speech with their child at home, if desired, at their leisure at www.ed.gov.

The text of the President's message is to be posted on Monday for public review at http://www.whitehouse.gov

My boys are in Middle School & High School so they'll get to see it live.

2. If my kids were in a school that refused to air this speech,
I would not only keep them home today to watch and discuss the speech, I would inform the school that I would be finding a new school for my kids. I'd get a waiver for a another public school or send them to a charter. When a school gives in to the dumbest people among us and pulls valuable information from the curriculum because uneducated people don't like it, it's no longer a valuable educational institution. I would never allow my child to be educated by people who are not interested in educating, but only in placating the dumbest amount us at the expense of the kids'.

If parents contacted the school and demanded that they discontinue teaching science, would they? Based on the judgement some of them have used, I think they might.
