President Obama to Speak to Nation's StudentsOn Tuesday at approximately 12:00-12:20pm, President Barack Obama will deliver a historic address to the students of America. During this special address, the President will speak directly to the nation's youth about persisting and succeeding in school. The President will challenge students to work hard, set educational goals, and take responsibility for their learning.
XXXXXXX Middle School and High School students will be given the opportunity, if desired, to view the President's historic speech at designated locations around their school. Since participation in the speech is not mandatory, students in grades 7-12 who do not wish to view the speech will remain in their classrooms or the cafeteria. Students who are unable to participate because of their schedule may view the speech at home at a later time at www.ed.gov. The speech will be taped and available to all students and parents after the live presentation at 12:00pm at the www.ed.gov website address.
For any students in grades K-6 the District recommends that parents view the President's speech with their child at home, if desired, at their leisure at www.ed.gov.
