Olbermann's statement from last Friday's Countdown
Last Friday Olbermann claimed:

There seems little doubt at this hour the White House is preparing to sell out all or most of the following: a public option, a national health care exchange, no discrimination against those with pre-existing conditions, and credits for small businesses to help make health care affordable.

4. It's an amazing phenomenon:
Obama's position on health care made up out of thin air, ignoring every word he has ever said.

9. Little doubt in his tiny pea brain. He even qualifies his own
lame statement -- "There seems little doubt at this hour the White House is preparing to sell out all or most of the following: a public option, a national health care exchange, no discrimination against those with pre-existing conditions, and credits for small businesses to help make health care affordable.

So which is it . . . all or most? There "is" little doubt or there "seems" to be little doubt? Even he doesn't know WTF he's talking about. And he pulled the last two issues out of his ass.

It is, however, refreshing to see an Olbermann sentence that does not contain the word thus.

13. And you or
Olbermann know this how? Did you get an advanced copy of his speech? Again, it's all just bullshit to drive up viewership. Whatever sells this week we'll go with.

None of us know what Obama is going to say tonight but it doesn't stop some from spouting as fact that Obama is going to roll over.

12. You know, I like
Keith, but I have not one iota of respect for a man who doesn't vote then proceeds to do what he does to politicians. And the excuse that he wants to remain objective as his reason for not voting is pathetic.

People need to wake up and realize that Olbermann does nothing different than any other main stream media. He has to have controversy and made up shit just like the rest of them to get people to watch/listen/read.

Not once has he or anyone else heard Obama state that he's willing to drop the publi option. And he's always been for folks being insured inspite of pre-existing conditions. Sorry folks, he's no different than Fox, CNN or any of the others when it comes to making shit up to sell.

Slam away but it's there for all to see.

14. KO is spot on!
But continue to hold out hope for a few scraps of coverage after the insurance companies bleed-out the middle class from existence. You can thank "the enablers" of our present corporate democratic leadership. :eyes:

from paying the premiums and/or being denied procedures that may be life saving.

Bottom Line: This bill will be another give-away to the upper 1%. More gutting of the middle class out of existence. That is, the very poor will be covered fully as will the wealthy. But us middle class dupes will be gouged into the ranks of the working poor.

Thanks Corporate Democrats for selling our nation lock, stock and barrel to the corporations.

We can look forward to declaring bankruptcy if/when we're struck with a major illness ... IF we're not lucky enough to join the military to score that free health care ... killing and dying in ENDLESS warfare.

For what? For our GOD ALMIGHTY Corporate Masters: the upper 1%.

19. Lot of Olbermann haters talking BS on this thread.
He's not small-brained and he's not stupid (despite the prejudice some of you bear against him JUST for being an ex-sportscaster...some open-minded liberals YOU are).

He doesn't agree with you all all the time. That statement was based on his anxieties, not on any "facts" coming from the White House...because whether you personally like it or not, the man is a pessimist, and a born skeptic, and when he sees and hears things he doesn't find reassuring, he says so...even if everything turns out OK in the end.

I am sure (and I don't doubt I'll be proven right) that I'm correct on this. It's too bad that some people only seem to approve of or like him when he's parroting their own opinions. It's also too bad that some people assume all people who have anything to do with sports are idiots. It'also too bad that some people assume everyone who works for the MSM is either an idiot, a spreader of propaganda or both.

20. As I recall, after making that statement, he attributed it someone else.
Presuming I remember correctly, it would alter the context of your quote. Even when I saw it though, I remember it adding a very perplexing twist to what he'd just said.
Unfortunately the clip seems to be gone from the transcripts.

From Friday's transcript all I could find is this:

Good soldiers? A president at the crossroads, as all signs point to Obama punting the public option, at least for a few years, it gets worse.

Meanwhile, however, from Thursday's transcript I found this gem:

The president prepares to sell out the public option to buy the vote of Olympia Snowe—and one or two others if they‘re lucky—by deferring a government alternative to private insurance until later, or until things get worse, or both.

Clarence Page broke the story here last night. The co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus then let the cat out of the bag—

Congressman Grijalva says the White House has called health care reform advocacy organizations and told them, quote, “they will cease supporting the public option portion of the upcoming health care reform legislation.”

The caucus now writes Obama saying, “We get no public option. You get none of our 83 votes.”

I suppose we are all to presume that Clarence Page and Congressman Grijalva are just lying?

23. Nope, not the same thing. This was Olbermann's statement.
The progressive caucus has long said that if there is no public option, they'll vote no.

The quote in the OP is Olbermann's statement.
