Look, I'm trying to keep my cool but I didn't knock on doors for fines, mandates, and no PO
I don't know what will happen tonight, I am worried sick. I have been calling and praying and trying to keep hope for something good to happen tonight.

But I didn't fucking knock on doors for Baucus's bullshit give away to the insurance vultures. I didn't knock on doors for poor people to be punished for being poor. I didn't donate our hard earned money for wishy washy bullshit. I want some concrete. I want something that will actually HELP people!

I don't know how I am going to feel after tonight. I honestly don't. But I do know that if I'm not happy after to night democrats can fuck off. They won't be getting my help again. I know that much.

And don't give me that pony bullshit, I worked hard. I worked to help people and if democrats don't do that, FUCK THEM!

2. Not much is going to happen tonight.
Obama will be making another speech. woo-ha.
It's really in Congress' hands. That should have you worried sick. Not some speech.

8. Congress is not the problem
It's the Senate that's going to try to sink the Public Option.

4. I understand. We all want a public option here.
I think we need to watch the speech first. Baucus's plan is not necessarily what Obama wants and definitely not what a bunch of progressives in the House will go for.

5. I support universal, single-payer healthcare.
Barring that, a public option. But I have avoided getting too worked up prior to the speech. I would rather postpone being upset until after President Obama speaks if he doesn't support real reform. If that is the case, I expect I will get hysterical. But I'm going to chill for another half-hour.

7. Its disappointing that Obama is not
insisting on a public option. But what is important is what the final health reform bill looks like. I'm waiting to see that before passing judgment on Obama's performance. If the health reform doesn't help people who can't afford health insurance in a big way, then I will be very unhappy with Obama and the Democratic party.

10. Yes. many of us feel just as you - because this is a LANDMARK issue - but....
He's caved in to Big Everything on issue after issue. I will be angry, but not surprised. And that's sad, because I really did have so much hope.

12. I'd just be happy with PROGRESSIVE leadership
It's not just caving into Big Insurance...

1. Backed off REAL laws for executive compensation in the billionaire giveaway packages.
2. A "stimulus" without huge investment in infrastructure.
3. Backroom deals with Big Pharma. "All healthcare negotiations will be on C-Span." (Remember that?)
4. Don't Ask, Don't Tell. "One of the first things I'll do as president..."
5. Changing your timeline in Iraq.
6. Turning Afghanistan into another ground quagmire instead of targeted strikes as promised.
7. An economic team loaded with the very people who caused our financial mess.
8. Promising transparency and being as secretive as the prior administration.
9. "Change must come from outside of Washington"....the most inside-the-beltway administration in history.

Very, very sad. Many of us had SO MUCH ------hope.

14. I am not surprised.
I wasn't a huge Obama supporter during the primaries. I thought he had a good gimmick, but was just another typical politician. So far, I am correct in my assumptions. I like the guy, I really do. Think he's a great guy, good hubby, good father. Would love to have a beer and watch a game with him. But he's not much different from everyone else we've had. And I felt this way since he became a candidate.

13. I hear you, but don't put too much into the speech. We have to look to the House.
They will be the ones writing the bill. We have to keep them strong.

It would be immensely helpful to have the President come out strong, it would encourage the House, but we may have to rely on them alone.

tries to make EVERYONE happy.

That. Is. Not. Leadership.
