"Four More Years"
I just got home, turned on the TV and "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" was on. Specifically, the book-burning scene in Berlin.

The mob was screaming "Seig heil," but to me, it sounded like the mindless chant of "Four more years."

This is what our home-grown, brain-dead imbeciles who attend Bush or Cheney rallies shriek to drown out anyone who dissents. Whether it's a mother who lost a son in Iraq, to a family member who lost a loved one in the World Trade Center.

This is no longer the country I was born in, and if BushCo wins, or steals it again in Nov., it's not the country I want to live in any longer.

Damn, we've got to beat these fucking barbarians in Nov. And then we have to do everything possible to make sure they never again get this close to seizing absolute power.

Sux... doesn't it. I'm with you all the way.... isn't it amazing how blind half of the country is WILLING to be... while most of the rest of the world is seeing 20/20. Amazing... simply amazing.

3. Yep. I just can't grasp what's going on in their minds.
It's frightening how easily supposedly rational people can be turned into a mindless mob of slogan-screaming fools.

8. mindless mob of slogan-screaming fools<<<<
Excellent... most excellent descriptive... certainly accurate.... frighteningly foolish mobs of fearful, unthinking, Orwellian bushbots.

They couldn't see where this was headed 4 years ago... and they can't see where we are headed in the next four years if they have their way.

If they can't read history, if they can't put two and two together... then they deserve the future that repeating the same mistakes over and over again will produce. It pains me to know this. Some would consider such mental meanderings pure poppycock.... but Orwell and others have writ large about it beforehand.

God bless the work of the thinkers who have gone before so that we may have our eyes open as we head into the maelstrom that we are creating.

2. When did it stop being the country you were born in?
I would say December 12, 2000. When Gore conceded.

5. A failure of the people.
There should have been an open revolution as a result, but people are too complacent.

7. It didn't happen on any single day.
Edited on Sun Sep-19-04 03:59 PM by Cyrano
It happened somewhere along the line of watching so many buy into the bullshit being peddled by Bush/Rove/Cheney etc. I, for one, am having a difficult time bearing up under the stupidity of too many in this country.

And as I've quoted before on this site: H.L. Menckin: "Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American people."

Unfortunately, he was correct.
