What's in a Kerry win for the lap-dog media? Honest question,
although I've decided not to worry about the media until after Kerry wins.

I would think covering controversy and allowing honest debate would DRAW viewers (Americans get their news from TV, let's face it).

Once Kerry is the president-elect, I think we can SHAME the press into asking the tough questions, being thorough and objective, etc.

Faux is a lost cause; let 'em destroy each other, including the soulless "liberals" who appear on it. I'm talking the ones who retain a tiny degree of objectivity.

1. Most likely if Kerry is the president-elect
They will start asking the tough questions. The gravy train may be over then so they will have to get tough. Agree with your statement about Fox "news" though. They may be in trouble if Kerry wins.

5. I'd be very happy if they DID start asking the tough ones.
I just don't think they have it in them anymore.

When an 80 year old woman has the most cajones of them all, you know we're in trouble.

2. Good question
Thought provoking.

If Kerry does win, then indeed, the media will have to start asking (themselves among others) some hard questions.

Contrariwise, if Bush wins, then they presumably keep trying to spin, and keep their heads in the sand.

(Which some of us know cannot be done forever, but oh, . . . the cost for the world in the mean time . . .)

3. Fox will quietly and shamelessly go back to the watchdog function
Rather than patriotically supporting our new president Fox News will put on a facade of being crusading populist outsiders claiming to look out for the ordinary American vis a vis the corrupt Kerry Administration.

That is why I think Fox should be treated as an enemy of the state in a Kerry Administration: I talking about FCC investigations, IRS audits, anti-trust investigations, FEC investigations of campaign finance laws and cutting off of all White House press passes.

6. What's the betting
That Faux doesn't cover Kerry's inauguration?

7. Of course not! There will be a "development" in the Laci Peterson case!
Or if they have to they will stack their anchor panel with such "analysts" as Sean Hannity, Michael Barone, Ann Coulter, Rita Cosby and a "liberal" like Alan Colmes for balance.

4. the media
thrives on sensationalism.

if we have a truly respectable and great president for once, with no skeletons in his closet or interns under his desk, or fake wars to start; then the media will get really scared. they'll have nothing to make a catchphrase and pretty graphics for.
