Caught RepubThugs tearing up my yard sign this AM

There I was, reading the Des Moines Register letters to the editor about the latest gun measure and how the left is trying to take away our liberties, when I caught Republicans taking away my freedom of speech right in my front yard!

Beautiful Sunday morning in Iowa -- you'd think these "morally superior" Republicans would be getting ready for church?

Nope.

Stan Thompson, the Iowa Republican trying to unseat Congressman Leonard Boswell, had his hooligans out tearing up my Boswell sign this morning.

The Missus heard me cry out, "Put that back!" Then rushed out to confront them. A few neighbors did, too.

One man asked if he should sic his dog on them. Another asked if we should call the police. Some just shook their heads in despair. As a minor crowd gathered, we decided, "No, let's not call the police. After all it's damned near impossible to hold a Republican responsible for anything anymore."

"Probably blame it on Bill Clinton," one suggested.

"Or they'd send a team of liars out to smear you," another chimed in.

We had a laugh at that. And let the cowardly little rascals go.

16. My kid and I were at an event this weekend...

...that I knew would include many Bushco supporters, but I never thought that anyone in this particular group was low enough to actually pull something. Well, waddaya know, out in the parking lot someone put a Bush-Cheney bumper sticker over my Kerry bumper sticker - upside-down, the idiot - and scratched up my Feingold sticker.

My kid spotted it first and came to tell me about it. I just shook my head and said, "We must be doing something right." He replied, "Why don't they realize that stunts like that just make us want to fight harder?" This from a teenager! Wise words indeed.
