Gut Check Time
We can win this. It's going to be close but we knew going in it would be.

We can win this. Some good stuff has happened and some bad stuff, too. There's no need for panic or 'hail Mary' plays--there's still plenty of time left.

We can win this. There are several factors working in our favor: Thanks to the opponent's blunders, economic wind conditions are against them. Moreover, they seem to want to campaign on Iraq--we should be able to defeat them there (but be alert for the trick plays.)

We can win this. Let's stick to the game plan: hammer them on incompetence on the economy and Iraq. Grind it out on the ground in the battleground states. Be aggressive on Bush's largess for the wealthy but be disciplined about taking cheap shots (yes, I know, he's an insufferable twit and it's sooo tempting but no penalties, ok?)

We can win this. The question is how important is it? How much do we want to win?

I'll tell you this: I REALLY WANT THIS WIN! I've got an 8-year old daughter and two grandsons. I don't want them to grow up in Mr. Bush's neighborhood.

I'm going to step up my campaigning and organizing and I just dug a bit deeper for ACT, MoveOn and the DNC.

Are you with me?

2. I'm more optimistic
now that Kerry is attacking Bush's failures.

I love his "Fantasy of spin" message. Now he has to just stay with it and not drop it for some other soundbite one of his advisors comes up with.

One thing that seems to work for Bush is that he stays on message. His message sucks, but he says it with such belief that the fools out there who are not paying attention believe him.

Kerry needs to not only repeat his message, he needs to believe it.

3. I'm with you!
I don't know if I can give anymore. Self-Employment Tax is a bitch (but one I gladly pay as a contribution to a better society) but I'm planning to hit the streets like mad in the next few weeks. Fliers for handing out, posters to stick up on community message boards, etc. I'm trying to organize a screening of "Unprecedented" and "Uncovered" back-to-back, maybe with a debate afterwards, but I have no actual money so it's slow going.

I'm gonna keep fighting right until the end.
