Edwards great "Two America's" speech - what the hell happened
to it? Where has it gone???

A lady whose doorbell we rang yesterday in Milwaukee asked us why he never says it anymore and noted how powerful it was.

Who made the terrible campaign decision to drop it?

Fools!

1. How do you know he's not giving it?.
The media has basically treated the man as a non-entity. Although, I've seen enough of Dick Cheney to last a lifetime. His dig at Kerry for the Lambert/Lambeau gaffe was sickening and terribly mean spirited. I can't wait for the debates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

3. Memo to Kerry campaign:

Stop giving Kerry last minute local sports quips to add to his speech. The potential plus that it will impress the folks is outweighed by that fact that a tired, overworked candidate can flub the line. It is NOT worth it. Stop it. NOW.

6. I'm sorry but the sharing the love
between the OBs and their patients was WAY WORSE than that!!!!!!!!

There are entire websites dedicates to George Bush's fuck ups and Kerry says one little thing wrong and it's fucking NATIONAL NEWS. Fair and Balanced my ass.

Oops, sorry for the rant. But, it was kinda fun.

8. That's my point -
Shrub's entire speech can be one long flubberrooonie, but only Kerry's get coverage.

That's par for the course in our new topsy turvy Rovian world.

5. We drove over 2 hours to go and hear him - not a peep about it.

I heard a while back that some people in the campaign thought it was "too divisive" or smacked of "class warfare" or some stupid crap like that.

13. Thats the point

The Republicans are engaging in class warfare, and we need to counter them. I can't believe Edwards backed off based on Republican attacks.

2. How would we know? NO ONE SEES HIM!
I havent seen him on ANY MSM since J Edgar Hoover was wearing short pants. I hardly remember what he looks like if it wasnt for sig files here.

I have friends asking all the TIME, "Where has Edwards gone", "WHY is off the campaign trail?"

The media is sickening.

10. Wouldn't he sound like a broken record? Also, that was from Edwards
campaign, not Kerry's.

11. A great speech has a cadence to it
Two America's cycled back to "You and I together, we can change this..." which was ideal when it was Edwards running for President himself. The theme is of course still powerful, but that speech had to be freshened, and not only because Kerry is now the Presidential candidate. Elements of Two Americas" can always be incorporated in a new stump speech, but it would reflect poorly on Edwards if the media were able to write him off as a "one speech donkey" which they would if his speech didn't evolve with the continually changing complexion of the campaign.

12. As wonderful and truthful as Edward's
"Two Americas" speech was, it did not traslate into votes. If you remember even the Democrats were not impressed with his ideas enough to vote for him in large numbers, especially in the North.
