The Republican Senate and House candidates are in purgatory....
They do not know whether to campaign more actively or simply to try and ride Bush's coattails to reelection. They are putting their chips on Bush. If matters turn southward in the next 4 to 6 weeks, they could be stuck in a position from which they have no exit. This could be advantageous for Democrats. If, "if", the electorate comes to their senses at the last moment, we could see a Democratic House and Senate, along with a Democrat in the White House. Then they will be kicking themselves because they did not actively campaign for their own reelections. This is a possible scenario.
