A Green friend who voted Nader 2000 is voting KERRY 2004
Edited on Sun Sep-19-04 10:15 AM by ikojo
He said it's all because his kids threatened to move to Canada should * win in November. He senses they are serious and it ticks him off. His son is 21 and his daughter is 19. His daughter may not have to worry about a draft (the fundies will not allow the pugs to include women in a draft) but his son may have some worries. He said he's going to contact the Kerry campaign TODAY.

He also said something that caused concern for both of us. He said he has heard that Kerry has given up on Missouri. Is that true? Has the Kerry campaign conceded Missouri to *? I hope not because if he fights for the job like he wants it then people in MO will come to his side.

Like me, my friend disagrees with Kerry on almost everything but realizes we need to get * out of the White House. If Kerry does win then we progressives need to hold him ACCOUNTABLE. Lets not do what was done with Clinton and give him a pass because we were happy to have someone with a D after his name following 12 years of Reagan/Bush/Quayle.

1. Kerry had better not
Mason-Dixon Polling & Research for Knight Ridder and MSNBC. Sept. 14-16, 2004.

Missouri
9/14 - 9/16
bush 48
Kerry 41
nader 1
other 1
Unsure 9

The reason bush looks ahead is because of so many Unsure voters

This is throughout the country

Those "Unsure" voters are not unsure about bush, they know him, and do not like him. They are unsure because they do not know Kerry

That is our challenge

I believe when people go to the polls, and they realize that the supreme court will be determined by the next president, Kerry will win

2. Nader isn't even on the ballot in Missouri, how can he be
polling 1%. Interestingly enough...I was with a bunch of Greens last night and many are voting Kerry. None are happy about it but know what a disaster * is and has been for the nation, world and environment.

3. Anyone who voted Nader in 2000 has the blood of Iraq on their hands

Anyone who votes for Nader in 2004 has the blood of the DRAFT and then world war on their hands if Bush gets back in.

BUSH '04 = DRAFT '05

KERRY '04 = PNAC OUT THE DOOR!!

5. Lets not turn this into a Nader flame war because that gets
nowhere. I would hate to point out that a good number of "Democrats" pulled the lever for Bush in 2000. But they are fine, aren't they? Ok to be something called a "Reagan" Democrat but it borders on the treasonous for someone to have supported a candidate FOUR years ago who at the time APPEARED to share more progressive values.

We need to work on wooing people to vote for Kerry. Playing the blame game accomplishes nothing.

9. Eat my shorts!
I live in California and voted for Nader in 2000. I have no blood of Iraq on my hands.

What a stupid thing to say!

4. I'm glad your friend is waking up but this bothers
me about Kerry/Edwards giving up on any state. I read where Gore gave up on states and lost them by a few votes!

Why can't they Not give up on any states except the totally out of reach ones?

7. He said he's willing to do work for the Kerry campaign but
is concerned that it will be for naught if the campaign has already written off Missouri.

Again, I hope it's not true.

I may be going to a Nancy Farmer house party tonight and will ask people there.

Nancy Farmer is running against Kit Bond for the Senate in Missouri. Any questions I should ask her? I will ask about Iraq that's for sure. As an aside, Jean Carnahan spoke at Central Reform Congregation in June of this year and I was the ONLY member of the congregation who asked her about her vote for the IWR. Even knowing what we know now she was still satisfied about that vote and said it was the right thing to do at the time. Oy vey!

The audience and attendees at this house party will be primarily Jews, environmentalists and maybe a few homeschoolers. All will be extremely progressive to left wing in their political philosophies.

6. Politics is the art of the possible

This kind of political thinking has made it possible for repukes to control all three branches of government. Keep it up. Imagine how many more American service personnel will die if chimpie has four more years to invade and conquer countries.
Do you think Nader sleeps well at night? I do! I don't think his ego will ever allow him to accept blame for the 2000 results.

8. No, the kind of political thinking that helps the pugs control all
Edited on Sun Sep-19-04 10:47 AM by ikojo
three branches of government is that espoused by Dems like Daschle who says it was wrong of Kerry to vote against the $87 billion before he voted for it. When Dems do that it tells those who oscillate between supporting * or supporting Kerry (whom they know very little about for the most part, unless one is a political junkie) that perhaps * and his minions are right about Kerry.

Another thing that keeps the pugs in power is Dems running to the right instead of staying on message. The pugs built a movement over a 40 year period. It began with Barry Goldwater and the Young Americans for Freedom. They then went on to build a network of think tanks. THEY were in it for the long haul and had their eye on the prize. It seems the Dems try to redefine themselves, every four years, AWAY from THEIR base of working people, minorities and what few union members remain. Instead of strengthening their base they try to run from it. The pugs embrace their base.
