Guardian UK: Britain to cut troop levels in Iraq
http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,1307980,00.html

Jason Burke, chief reporter
Sunday September 19, 2004

The British Army is to start pulling troops out of Iraq next month despite the deteriorating security situation in much of the country, The Observer has learnt.
The main British combat force in Iraq, about 5,000-strong, will be reduced by around a third by the end of October during a routine rotation of units.

The news came amid another day of mayhem in Iraq, which saw a suicide bomber kill at least 23 people and injure 53 in the northern city of Kirkuk. The victims were queueing to join Iraq's National Guard.

More than 200 people were killed last week in one of the bloodiest weeks since last year's invasion, strengthening impressions that the country is spinning out of control.

1. Ruh roh...........................
there goes another of the "coaltion of the willing" slowly, but ever so surely. The United States will have to take on even MORE of the burden of Bush's folly now (if that's possible). And "government officials" say ther that is NO plan to reinstate the draft next year? Yeah, right. :eyes:

4. To really fuck with their minds, the Iraqi people should line up in
greater numbers, like thousands and thousands. The bombers would be perplexed and confused.

3. Gee, things are going "surprisingly well"
/sarcasm

WTF is going on? Everyone is pulling troops...but the US. Well, at least we're staying with our *cough* resolve.

5. Yes.................
Bush is a VERY decisive leader, that's what many people like about him. He's leading us over a cliff but it's OK. At least he isn't hesitating in doing so, unlike that "flipflopper" Kerry who might change his mind and stop us from going over the cliff. Thank Gawd for George Bush and his decisive leadership!!

7. I think lots of leaders take every one down with them.
Makes them feel better to go down with a group I guess.

6. Will we now have to re-name English muffins?
Oh dear this seems to be the only country that even likes us a little.

9. Freedom Muffins!!
Yes, I like the sound of that. And I suppose we'll be speaking "Freedom" from now on, not English. Let's see, we'll have to cross the Freedom Channel, use "Olde Freedom Furniture Polish", while in the pool hall we'll have to put a bit of "freedom" on the ball to get into position for the next shot. The possibilities are endless!! Conservative heaven!
