Good for Mo Dowd! Tackles inanity of Bush being "security" president.

How did the president who has caused so much insecurity in the world become the hero of security moms? He was, after all, in charge when Al Qaeda struck, and he was the one to send off Mrs. Niederer's son and other kids to die in a war sold on a false premise. And that conflict has, despite what Mr. Bush claims, spurred more acts of terror and been a recruiting bonanza for Osama bin Laden.

<> This was followed by a report by Charles A. Duelfer, the top American weapons inspector in Iraq, that found no evidence that Iraq had begun any large-scale program for weapons production by the time of the American invasion last year. To rationalize its idée fixe on Iraq, the administration squandered 15 months, with 1,200 people - at a time when our scarce supply of Arabic experts should have been focused on the Iraqi insurgency and Al Qaeda - just to figure out that Saddam would have loved to have dangerous weapons if he could have, but he couldn't, so he didn't.

Even with the help of his new Clintonistas, Mr. Kerry is nibbling around the edges of the moral case against W(rong) and Dark Cheney. He charged that the president was living in "a fantasy world of spin" on Iraq.

But the Bushies are way beyond spin, which is a staple of politics. These guys are about turning the world upside down, and saying it's right side up. And that should really give security moms the jitters.

1. Although I will never
forgive MoDo for trivializing the 2000 campaign, and helping to make it about Gore's earthtones and other such garbage, she can write. And when she's on our side, I'm happy she's there.

4. I think this is the best issue to attack Bush
He has been TERRIBLE on homeland security and the fight against terror. The ONLY reason Bush is doing well (if you believe the polls) is that people think that Bush has been strong on security. If Kerry and the Dems can prove otherwise, Bush will be toast. It won't be easy because we need to shake some core beliefs among the Bush supporters. If Republicans would only look at the facts, the FACTS not opinions, they would not vote for Bush.

6. Perhaps Mo's article will break the ice for the rest of the media herd.
This is exactly where Bush needs to be taken on and exposed, and I am thrilled that Mo has chosen to start the process in the media.

5. She can be so confusing to me, it seems to me her own inner
ambivalence on what she believes resonates through her writing. It's really very simple, you're either with Bush or your the enemy. I thought the "vote for me or die," was the final bullet in the Bush campaign, there's nothing more than forcing people to vote for you or you'll harm them. Dowd is very confusing to me, next week I'll hold my breath for a dig at Kerry. She's the new da da.

7. Kick! Mo calls out the "security" president!

Let's hope this column will open the flood gates and give others in the media the guts to question why on earth the media cedes the "security" bona fides to this incompetent and pulls along many of those who have only surface knowledge ow aht is going on--if that.
