Good Hard Slam at Parlock, Fr. of Crying Sophia
Did Father Stage Alleged Attack?
Claims to have been assaulted by Dems three other times

Times-Patriot Staff Report

September 17, 2004 — Phil Parlock and three of his children visited the Tri-State Airport in Huntington, W.Va., yesterday to catch a glimpse of Democratic vice-presidential candidate John Edwards. Parlock, a staunch Republican, and his family were there to show support for the Bush-Cheney ticket when they were assaulted by Kerry supporters, according to a report in the local paper, The Herald-Dispatch.

What the Herald-Dispatch failed to report, however, is that Parlock also claimed to be the victim of similar assaults at the hands of Democratic renegades in 1996 and 2000 — a fact that casts doubts on Parlock's new claims.

Parlock's latest claim certainly is filled with the sort of drama that makes for a fine photo op. Sophia, his three-year-old daughter, was holding a Bush-Cheney sign when angry Democrats ripped the sign from her tiny hands, making her burst into tears. A photographer with the Associated Press happened to be right there to capture the heartbreaking tears leaking from Sophia's innocent eyes as she perched on her father's shoulders.

Compare this latest event with what allegedly happened to Parlock's family in 2000, when they tried to show support for Bush at a rally for Al Gore. At that rally, son Louis, then 12, had signs ripped right from his hands, according to a front-page report in the October 28, 2000, edition of the Charleston (W.Va.) Daily Mail. "I did not expect people to practically attack us," said Louis.

2. That burns me up.
This guy is an idiot to bring his kid to a rally, then I bet he started shouting obscenities.

HEY PARLOCK, NEXT TIME LEAVE THE KID AT HOME WITH MOM WHEN YOU GO OUT TO A KERRY RALLY TO STIR STUFF UP!

4. You seem to have missed the point. The little girl is a prop for him.
See, if a grown man had his sign torn up, it wouldn't have made the front page of any newspapers! But a cute, crying little moppet, gets top of the page on Drudge, etc.

5. Doesn't this sound like Parlock?
MUNCHAUSEN BY PROXY (MBP) (also called Munchausen Syndrome by Proxy, Munchausen by Proxy Syndrome, and Factitious Disorder by Proxy) is a label for a pattern of behavior in which caretakers deliberately exaggerate and/or fabricate and/or induce physical and/or psychological-behavioral-mental health problems in others.

This pattern of behavior constitutes a separate kind of maltreatment (abuse/neglect) that manifests as physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, or a combination. The primary purpose of this behavior is to gain some form of internal gratification, such as attention, for the perpetrator.

6. I think he pinched her to make her cry
why do you think she's looking down at daddy instead of over at the mean man who "took" her sign?

7. before...
...the sign was allegedly grabbed from her, a campaign volunteer suggested that he take her home, as she was being frightened. This could mean that she was crying even before anything happened.

Serial GOP: Media loves repeated Republican protester

That was good coverage at the Times-Patriot. Loved this line:
"What the Herald-Dispatch failed to report, however, is that Parlock also claimed to be the victim of similar assaults at the hands of Democratic renegades in 1996 and 2000 — a fact that casts doubts on Parlock's new claims."

Doubts- yep - big time!

The Swift Boat Liars supporter in Texas is in real estate. Might be coincidence. Might not.

10. Parlock almost admits that he's engaged in psy-ops here -
PARLOCK: Glenn, look, I work on -- I, I, I said this before, I shouldn't tell my secrets, but -- I work on a subliminal level; I don't go after the press. The press is easy. Working on people to change their minds is harder.

One of Parlock's sons is in military intelligence.

12. I caught that as well.....
.....there's also another quote he made about having chosen to stand by the 'alleged' union people in order to provoke a confrontation.

Once again DUers do the job that everyone just assumes the press is doing. Thanks to all of my DU brothers and sisters who took the time to question and research this matter and get it out to the press. The world owes you one. :)

Cheers! :toast:

And a big THANK YOU to Earl, Elad and Skinner for having the prescience to give us this venue to DU what we DU best!

HIP HIP HOORAY! Free drinks in the lounge! :toast: :toast: :toast:
