Hows the Jewish vote?
What percentage did Gore get in 2000?

How much of that was the Lieberman effect?

I heard that a synagouge in Kansas City is spreading the lie that Kerry is anti-Israel. Anyone else?

How much of the Jewish vote can Kerry expect to get?

1. I am a Jew, and I am voting for Kerry
In addition, not only will Kerry get the Jewish vote, but he will get the Arab vote also

4. I think
Gore got 75 percent of the Jewish vote and polling shows that Kerry should get about the same. Bush has managed to unite Jew and Arab against him. He is a uniter. :-)

13. Jew the noun is good. Jew the verb is bad.
I'm not a Jew, but the noun is the default term for members of the religious group and the ethnic group, just like people refer to themselves as Catholics or as Swedes.

3. San Diego Synagogue, saw Kerry Edwards
button, during the service...

I think as much as bush tries this year he has managed to unite two groups Jewish Americans and Muslim Americans, Shh keep this under your sleeve

Some folks on BOTH sides may just vote for bush out of spite.

Most of us are going LETS GET BUSH OUT

9. Did you finish reading my post?
Didn't I ask what share Kerry can expect? That should indicate to you that I don't think Jewish Americans will vote as a block.

I would ask the same question of any and all ethnic or religious groups in America as a way of measuring the state of the campaign.

Also, I am concerned that there are lies being spread about Kerry after hearing that story of the synagogue in Kansas City.

14. I heard that Gore got 89% of the Jewish vote.
In fact, Jews voted as strongly for Gore as Mormons did for Bush.

6. No less than Gore did -- perhaps more. 70%-30% or better.
...and that's not changing, and hasn't changed, throughout the campaign.

Still the most reliable non-African-American Democratic voting bloc.

7. Another Jew for Kerry....
Thursday while having Rosh Hashanah dinner with some friends one of them was telling me a story of a rabbis son who is voting for Kerry. This is the son of a VERY orthodox rabbi. The son is also a rabbi. The son said that he's an American first and as an American he thinks Kerry will care more about the poor than Bush. So, he is voting for Kerry.

I agree with the rabbi's son...People HERE are suffering. It's not like Israel is paradise. Unless one is rich, life over there is pretty tough as well.

I think in the end the religious right scares more Jews than they attract. The percentage of Jews who are orthodox is very small and not even all orthodox Jews are voting for Bush. I know because I shul hop and on occasion attend orthodox synagogues and hear people talk.

10. seems to me.....
that Kerry will get around the same percentage of the jewish vote as Gore got in 2000....Kerry may lose some of the jewish orthodox vote because they see Bush as the best president ever for the state of Israel....when we all know that is pure bullshit!

12. This poll showed 75-22%, which is about what Gore got.
http://www.jewishreview.org/BUSH_KERRY_POLL.htm

I think the poll probably tilts a little towards Kerry, and probably misses Jews living in Israel, who probably tilt heavily towards Bush, but the fundamental dynamic of the Jewish vote hasn't moved much.

This poll showed about 50-25% favoring Kerry's Israeli affairs stance. I think that means it's really 50-50, but half of the people who prefer Bush's apocalypse plan would rather not say so.

16. Let me add to your question. There has been a Joe Lieberman / DLC
Edited on Sat Sep-18-04 11:11 PM by hansolsen
wing of the Party that strongly supported the war in Iraq, in part because it would make the middle east safer for Israel (which is a noble goal) and perhaps because it would make the middle east safe for Zionist settlers to "Occupy" the "Holy Lands"), which I personally do not consider a noble goal.

I am wondering how such voters feel about the war in Iraq now??

Do readers of this thread feel the war in Iraq is benefiting Israel??

What if Kerry takes a stronger stance against the war in Iraq. How will that be perceived by strong war supporters, if any such bloggers are reading this thread?

17. A shame Pat Buchanan isn't running,

because THIS time he really would get the Florida Jewish vote.

(just kidding)

There are fascist Jews, but given the history they are a decided minority. Most American Jews were raised anti-fascist from birth--some knew that Hitler was bad before they knew their aleph beit. As for the ultra-Orthodox, I can only pray that the Messiah comes just before the election and is carrying a big KERRY/EDWARDS sign.
