Bush's Guard records note praise from father
"Greene apparently had written to Representative Bush commending his son’s performance in the early phase of his training.

It was unclear whether Greene’s letter to Bush showed special interest in the young enlistee or was a perfunctory letter sent to all trainees’ families"

http://www.boston.com/news/politics/president/bush/articles/2004/09/18/bushs_guard_records_note_praise_from_father/

Question for the Vietnam Vets: How many of your parents received such a "perfunctory letter" from you commanding officer when you were a trainee??

1. I did read this today
Is this the only document newly released yesterday (a FRIDAY)? Did they release just this, or were there more?

I did think it was sweet that an officer would bother to write a parent about how wonderful his trainee son is. HUH?????!!!!! Hahahah! Very sweet of Old Bush to respond with a gushy letter, too. Kinda like a socialite tea party. Please pass the sugar, dahling.

2. Disgusting preferential treatment for the little chimp boy.
But watch how much coverage this angle gets, especially in light of the seemingly endless "that's all the records...no that's all the records" document dump by the WH, as compared to the memo conspiracy nut angle.

3. That letter means nothing
It is a boot-licking military guy sucking up to a US Congressman and a Congressman kissing his son's officer's ass. The officer always needs a friend in DC and the Congressman knew it was just a matter of time before BoyGeorge would find himself in a jam. Quid pro quo, bucko.

4. Yep! What a surprise that a major general would suck up to a

congressman. . . NOT!

Think the general wrote to Joe W Sixpack's dad about young Joe?

7. Not only a congressman, but one who became RNC Chair
and head of the CIA within a very short time. Poppy Bush was extremely well-connected and moving up rapidly at this time. Of course his son was given preferential treatment.

5. hey KY you reminded me of something!
I had never known what the phrase "quid pro quo" meant, until Chimp Sr. used it! Yep, that's when I learned it's meaning. Huh.

8. I assure you I didn't learn the phrase from Bush41!
Would love to see BoyGeorge try to roll that out on his tongue!
