Which ACCENT is Bush using today? He's in PA today, Maine tomorrow
Edited on Wed Sep-22-04 12:37 PM by Stephanie

*edit* - I got it wrong. Bush is not in Maine today, he is in Pennsylvania. Now we know his phony folksy-Southern accent won't get him anyplace there. What will he do?

He just spoke to the UN in standard English, no accent, but that doesn't seem smarmy enough for a Bush campaign rally.

So what will it be? Anyone see any of this?

What ACCENT is Bush using today? Tomorrow is Maine, so we can speculate on which accent he'll attempt while in Bangor.

1. Ayuh!
He will be in Bangor tomorrow. May he get protested and booed and run out of town.

2. He is *not* a Mainer.
His family are not Mainers.

He is order From Away, genus Flatlander, species Summer People.

And there's nothing lower than Summer People.

Unless it's leaf-peepers....

3. He'll probably dust off his Yale/Andover accent.
Weird that Jeb and Neil don't have any regional accent. I've never heard Marvin speak, but doubt he sounds like his big brother W "Gabby Hayes" Bushkin.

5. Good idea. Some tips for Whistle Ass:
Ahoy! - "Hello!"

Avast! - Stop and give attention. It can be used in a sense of surprise, "Whoa! Get a load of that!" which today makes it more of a "Check it out" or "No way!" or "Get off!"

Aye! - "Why yes, I agree most heartily with everything you just said or did."

Aye aye! - "I'll get right on that sir, as soon as my break is over."

Arrr! - This one is often confused with arrrgh, which is of course the sound you make when you sit on a belaying pin. "Arrr!" can mean, variously, "yes," "I agree," "I'm happy," "I'm enjoying this beer," "My team is going to win it all," "I saw that television show, it sucked!" and "That was a clever remark you or I just made." And those are just a few of the myriad possibilities of Arrr!
