I will not turn on the TV tonight
I will not watch any news program. What the media is doing over the Nobel Prize is sick. I just don't have the nerves to listen to any more of their belittlement.

It is just fucking SICK.

They can't even rejoice in the success of this man and I will not be part of their ratings just so they can further demean a great man.

And to anyone who thinks that I am full of shit here are three headlines:

Does Obama Deserve a Nobel Peace Prize?
Slate: Award was given for his speeches, not actions
Opinion: Turn it down!

They can't report that he won the award and show his statement or why he won, just belittle it.

1. Besides, you can read the vitriol right here. No need to watch TV.

2.  what flavor of tv are you referring to?
I would think that Jim Lehrer on PBS would be fair. And also the broadcast networks, for the most part. It's cable news that is the real problem. They can't bear to report straight news without trying to spin it one way or the other.

4. Nor should you....or anyone else.
Lower ratings might begin to get through to them.

I could be wrong, but I think this ugliness will backfire bigtime.... it's turning off people who were "undecided". They are seeing the ugliness for what it is.

It could end up being a big plus. I know that's hard to deal with now, but I think this is what is happening. While I won't watch or read the ugliness, I'm actually glad it's there.

We shall see.........

7. Gettin harder & harder for the wingers to keep their delusion on
Hate pundits have their work cut out for them. They may actually have to work to earn their 30 pieces of silver for turning America into a pariah. AND they get to watch as Obama and the majority of the American people show the world we are decent.

11. it's sad to see the negative reactions towards him winning that prize
My original response was "what did he do?" but the more i thought about it, the more it made sense that he got the award and i am GLAD about it.

I don't agree with some of the things he's doing, it even makes me mad at him. But he has done more good for this country and the world in just a few months than GWB did in 8 years. The US is a powerful presence in the world, and the people we elect to high office determine not just the future of our country, but that of the world. His winning the Nobel Prize for Peace is a very powerful statement by the world community (done on their behalf by the govt. of Norway) that his election to the presidency has brought real hope for meaningful change in the world community.

It's sad that he is generally more appreciated outside this country than he is here. I blame the US media for this. They are idiots.

I'll continue to dissent when i disagree, but i will continue to do it with respect. That's our duty as citizens, as participants in a democracy. But right now, I'm very very proud of our president.

15. Why are you so upset?
Who is stopping you from celebrating? Celebrate. Why are you focusing on the "they"? "They" are controlling your life because you are letting them.

20. News
I did find it very interesting that this morning on my Yahoo News it gave the news story that Obama had won the Nobel Peace Prize, then by the afternoon, the headline had changed to "How Nobel Prize win could hurt Obama"

22. It's made easier by the fact that I don't watch cable news. Period.
Didn't do it during the election, even. I hate cable news--all of it. Hell, I can't even watch network news beyond local news. Katie Couric makes my teeth itch.
