The Pentagon releases Bush's records: Is there a media feeding frenzy?
Perhaps this is old news that has been discussed earlier, but on Friday night's late news, it was reported that the Pentagon has released its records of Bush's military service. The anchorman didn't elaborate other than to say that Bush was a good little boy, or words to that effect.

This raises several questions in my mind. Why were these records released NOW, after the 60 Minutes debacle?

Are the media treating these papers with the same contempt as the papers CBS used in its recent 60 minutes report? Are there suspicions of forgery? Questions on the timing the their release? Were they tampered with? Is there anything in the papers which could shed light as to whether Bush legitimately served his term in the National Guard?

I've been listening to radio news all day Saturday, and the Pentagon's release of these files was never mentioned.

Anybody have any light to shed on this?

2. It was a court order.
The Pentagon was ordered to release any and all of Bush's military records. They were to be released no later than Monday. Of course they were released on a Friday afternoon. :eyes:

The report I heard was that poppy had written a letter to one of chimpy's commanding officers. That's it. The report said the papers shed NO LIGHT on the NG/AWOL issue. Those papers are still buried...never to be seen, I'm sure. End of subject.

No outrage over the buried papers. No outrage over the main issue...was he AWOL/is he a fucking liar? Did he refuse to take his physical? Did he show up in Alabama? NONE of those papers were released. Oh well, move on...nothing more to see or know. :grr:

4. You go Incog. We need an investigation to answer those questions.
"No outrage over the buried papers. No outrage over the main issue...was he AWOL/is he a fucking liar? Did he refuse to take his physical? " I agree...inquiring minds want to know.

5. Friday night "news" dump
Report I saw (CNN?) said about 70 documents had been released. The majority did not mention *, most were unit histories and similar docs. The most notable (per CNN) was a letter to a Major General (possibly commander of the training command) from Poppie thanking him for taking a personal interest in *'s progress.

Letter was on House of Representatives stationary. No word yet on if the kerneling was correct for a typewriter of that era.

7. BINGO !!! Give Nordic a cookie !!
There, my friends, is the NEWS in all of this.
The WH told us at least once before that 'all documents' had been released.
Now they find more ?

Are there even more yet out there somewhere ?
How can we believe them ?

Which translates to, HOW CAN WE BELIEVE ANYTHING THEY TELL US ?!?!?

11. Yes and No
The White House is withholding docs, but they aren't required to volunteer them. They are stalling on others.

I'm sure the AP asked for those unit reports because those particular dates come up elsewhere on his record. For example, in the pay record transaction codes, the dates on which some data was entered is visible.

12. This wasn't actual personnel file stuff
Part of the report (CNN) was that "in an effort to comply" with the AP's FOIA request. Seems like a dump of every document that mentions the 111th between 1968 and 1974 will soon be released as "part" of *'s files.

An army travels in triplicate, I assume that since the USAF is a child of the US Army, they do the same. * got one copy; its long gone, TANG had another; except for what Burnett(?) salvaged from the trash can, its gone too. Where is the third copy???????

9. How many times is the Pentagon going to release Bush's records?
Where are these records coming from? When is it going to end? When you announce that you have released all the records, only to find out there are "more" records out there, what does that do for credibility?

10. It's amazing
how after the white house said ALL of shrub's records were already released, there have been 2 or 3 times since where more records were handed out. All of course with NO media reaction.

This is a tough mountain to climb!
