Should I hold my breath waiting for mainstream press to blast Wash Times
for running a bogus story about Kerry-Edwards supporters picking on poor little Sophia Parlock without vetting its source more thoroughly?

6. I dont know about the MS press
but, I did send the writer of the article, as well as the editor of the political portion the copies of the ariticles from 1996 and 2000. I wanted them to see that our dear Mr. Parlok and Company are decent performance artists.

7. If one drinks enough Kool-Aid...
one can convince oneself of the truth of any reality one chooses to believe.

If you want to make the picture of a Union goon ripping off a sign from a 3-year old girl the cornerstone of the campaign, go ahead, but count me out of such Fascist tactics.

I remember when thugs wearing hard hats attacked peace marchers in Chicago and other major cities. You can guess which political party hired them, or rather used the Mob, to attack people for exercising the First Amendment rights. How come we are becoming them?

Did you even read the letter from IUPAT's President?

8. Hey IG did you read all the threads and articles showing that Parlock
has a years long history of attending Dem events with his kids and signs, and what is most likely, deliberately staging these "sign damages" to make a news story?

9. Nothing excuses doing what that man did to the little girl
Children are out of bounds!

James Williams, President of IUPAT got it. How come we are choosing tribalism over principle?

Statement from the General President Regarding the Events in Huntington, WV

The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades believes in the fundamental right for civil discourse, freedom of speech and activism to support our candidates and issues.

What happened in Huntington, West Virginia yesterday is an affront to everything we, as a union, pride ourselves to represent. We extend our apologies to the Parlock family, especially Sophia, for the distress one of our overzealous members caused them.

I have personally taken steps to address this issue internally, and will take immediate disciplinary action to the fullest extent allowed under U.S. Department of Labor regulations and the constitution of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades.

It is my hope that this incident reminds all of our members that every last citizen in this country has the right to express his or herself freely. Not one single one of us has the right to tell them otherwise.

General President James A. Williams
The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades

thing! If they did, I would condemn it too! But especially a guy with a history like this, I would assume no such thing! So far as far as I've seen we have only HIS word that such a thing took place!

And did you read the articles about Parlock's past history with events like this?

The 21-year old brother is in the National Guard and he explained it all in a newbie series of post at a rightwing website that we are all familiar with:

12. lol..
Yes, Sophia is ok, but a little confused because "the people changed and got mean" as soon as she held up her sign. We were at the visit in the hopes of winning the people who are unsure and reassuring those who support President Bush.

Sure.. and they just happened to bring along their favorite cameraman.

15. They are as reliable as Dan Rather and CBS News
which is to say that things have become so partisan that we can no longer believe in anything we hear, from whatever source we hear it from.

No one is telling the truth!

The FR link is because it was from the brother and he had commented on the events.

Wasn't the 21 year old protecting the car with it's giant Bush bumper stickers so he couldn't go to the rally? How does he know what had happened? And if he did go to the rally, why isn't he
with his family?

Edited on Sat Sep-18-04 09:22 AM by Mayberry Machiavelli
or so, and now we see that FR, and once again, the dude's own family, is the source of "credibility" for this? And once again you do NOT comment on the significance of the guy having been part of multiple different incidents of "sign destruction" with his kids at different Dem events over the years. 1,000 plus posts eh? You have zero credibility with me.

"The more questions one has." Yes, I have plenty. About you.

21. I won't drink the Kool Aid
and neither should you!

I wonder if this is a gender issue, with the majority of males being oblivious to making a 3-year girl cry by yanking her sign.

Would you react differently if that had been at a peace rally, where children are always present?
