I read stories about this bomb here, that bomb there, 60 dead in this one, 39 dead in another one. And I sit there scratching my head, looking at the dateline of the story, wondering if this is an updated casualty figure for the bombs that went off YESTERDAY or if this is a NEW bombing. They are happening so fast and furious I literally cannot keep track of them.
And I swear we just went over 1000 US servicemembers deaths the OTHER DAY and now I look at it is 1030??? WTF?
I'm noticing something among people I know in real life: they are starting (finally) to be disturbed by this. Not the mess in Iraq, per se, but the almost complete lack of attention given to it by the bush administration. He was at a few ritzy fundraisers the other day for some republican candidates while the horror of Iraq just rages on. A friend of mine who I would describe as a "weak bush supporter" shook his head yesterday and said "What's going ON there? Our guys are still getting killed, even more now. Why isn't anyone doing anything?" He was very upset. His son is in university ROTC and owes six years of his life to the Army after graduation.
We need to pound this, people. I've already hit Media Blaster this morning, sending out emails to as many news organizations as I can (especially local ones) asking the simple question: why isn't the bush administration paying attention to Iraq? Just waiting for November 2?
Shame on him. Shame on all of them.
