Tactic for possibly converting some of my RW-leaning relatives
Cousins, etc, live on the PA side of the Ohio/Pennsylvania border. Part of the "Arkansas" portion of PA. Tendency to lean Right because they hunt.

Well, last year, I lost one of my cousins to diabetes. Several other members of the same immediate family have diabetes.

I am not going to instigate things, but if it comes up (if we do our annual Thanksgiving family reunion), I will throw this in their face:

"If stem-cell research would have saved XXX, would you still vote for someone who wants to ban it?"

God, I hate to think of where this world would be if Louis Pasteur and the discoverers of penicillin and Jonas Salk had been working for the pharmaceutical industry and its "bottom-line" attitude. Probably would have found that a failed polio vaccine might have increased breast size and went that way.

1. Thanksgiving may be too late.
Get to them before election day.

3. pounding self on head
Yeah, you're right, but I don't communicate with them much as it is.

Don't want to initiate the "battle".

And yes, Thanksgiving would be too late (for this round).

4. Try it
but sometimes I wonder if the best way to convert someone might be finding out their strongest reason for being against dems and softening them up there too. good luck.
