I'm not so sure that Burkett was the source of the memos.

I just watched Burkett's Hardball interview from last spring.

Matthews asked Burkett if he had taken a close look at the Bush documents Burkett saw in the trash. Burkett said he had actually looked at the first 5 or so pages, and that they were performance reviews and pay records. He said nothing of personal memos.

I think we ought to take a look at the source of this new revelation that the pages were faxed from a Kinkos in Abilene. If it's all a Rove set-up, isn't it possible Rove was out to kill as many birds with one stone as he could?

I don't want to start a wild goose chase or get into mad conspiracy theories, I'd at least like to scratch the surface.

I'm not convinced yet, either way. Burkett and CBS could be acting really stupidly, or Rove could be playing very dirty politics.

1. Nothing is settled yet about Burkett or anything
This will be around for a while. it is a good mystery and the media will continue to dig with the idea of "getting" a rival. Until proven otherwise, I will assume the documents are what they appear to be and came from an "unimpeachable" source as originally stated by CBS. My own guess is the family member who ended up with Killian's personal desk and the papers in contained after his death in 1984. Just a guess.

2. shamelessly kicking my own thread.
Did anyone else catch this interview?

The media is jumping on the Burkett-did-it bandwagon. Have any of you seen the Yahoo posts Burkett supposedly made?

3. Whatever happened to Eva Killian?
I remember reading here the night the Kinko's story broke, someone discovered there was an Eva Killian 3 miles from the Kinko's used. But I didn't come back for a few days and never saw the follow-up. Did anyone ever establish if she was related to Col. Killian or not?

but I'm too chicken to call her and ask (like she would tell me the truth, anyways).

5. I was thinking about...
...the 20,000 members of that Texans for Truth group. Some of them must live near Abilene. The head of the group, who is an experienced reporter and might be considered a credible source, lives in Austin I think, though.

Isn't is just so Rovian, though, to make it appear to come from Burkett? It would be so typical.
