2. Here's an interesting quote
"What the Bush people have done right is convince women in this state that Bush is clearly the better steward in protecting them and their families,"

What Kerry should be hammering home to these women is that if they put Bush in office, they can kiss their children goodbye to the DRAFT!

3. hey, offer a taste of what the story says ....
President George W. Bush's emphasis on national security appears to have paid off in Missouri - especially among women and independent voters.

A new poll for the Post-Dispatch and KMOV-TV (Channel 4) indicates that the president's improved standing among those two key voting blocs are the major reasons why he appears now to be heading into the final six weeks of the campaign with a lead over his Democratic rival, Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts, among likely Missouri voters.

"What the Bush people have done right is convince women in this state that Bush is clearly the better steward in protecting them and their families," said pollster Del Ali, whose Maryland-based firm, Research 2000, conducted the poll last week.

....

The result: Among 801 likely Missouri voters polled Monday through Thursday, 49 percent supported Bush, compared to 42 percent for Kerry. Nine percent remained undecided.

4. interesting notes and comments

MoE is 3.5%

In July, those polled were evenly split between the two candidates. Last week, Bush held a 14-point edge.

Kerry is airing no TV ads in the state

Bush's campaign appears to be ramping up its TV ad spending in the state (and did a stop there with Rudy G. during 9/11 week)

Pollster believe Kerry still can make a case in Missouri

Comments:

"I'm a staunch right-wing Christian. He's a strong Christian, and that means more to me than anything else," said Tammy Osborne, 40 and homemaker in Winona, Mo.

Nora Schmersahl, 48, of Lake Saint Louis, is very upset about the war in Iraq. Her 43-year-old brother is in the Naval Reserves and recently got called up.

"He may go to Iraq and Afghanistan," she said. "He only got in the reserves because he lost his job and needed the health care. The economy and Iraq, they're kind of tied, in my mind."

Schmersahl sees no point in the war. Bush backer Edward Tenes, 58, of Rolla, Mo., also is worried about the war. But Tenes says he is more confident that Bush can find a way to resolve it.

5. But... but "resolve" is not part of the Bush plan
If things get "resolved" over there, then the Bush empire loses money.

6. I don't understand their thinking...
I'm a woman, and I admit to being puzzled by women who believe Bush will keep the nation safer. I see an increasingly isolated American, one which is starting wars, breaking treaties, and quickly becoming bankrupt.

I view us as being much less safe with the current administration in charge. What will these same women think when their own children are called upon to fight and die in another of the endless Bush wars?
