COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry has increased criticism of how President Bush is handling the economy and Iraq as a way to clearly show voters how they've been hurt under the Bush administration, Kerry's running mate John Edwards said Friday.
"The bottom line is we want to make certain voters in Ohio know that they have been hit like a laser by the Bush policies _ the loss of 237,000 jobs, rising health care costs and the mess we now have on the ground in Iraq," Edwards told The Associated Press in an interview from his North Carolina home.
Democrats acknowledge that Kerry, a four-term Massachusetts senator, has had difficulty pinning down the message he wants voters to take to the ballot on Nov. 2, while the Bush campaign has been more disciplined and consistent.
Polls and focus groups conducted by Kerry's campaign suggest he can't win without undermining Bush's credibility. After largely avoiding talking about the president during the Democratic National Convention, Kerry and Edwards have been much more aggressive recently by promoting the president's policy choices as character flaws.
http://www.onnnews.com/Global/story.asp?S=2315315Edwards is all over Ohio and it looks like those guys are taking to Edwards in a bog way. I know I have been critical of the selection of Edwards, and I offer my apologies. Edwards is doing a good job in Ohio, of tearing up the Bush/Cheney record with a smile on his face and appearing as nice as ever while shoving the knife in.
