Health Care is Obama's Waterloo: He's doing Wellington.
Edited on Mon Oct-26-09 08:20 PM by denem
I don't get it. Not one Republican, House or Senate, is going to vote for Health Care. Not one, not even Snowe. Each and every Republican Representative is going to line up against it, cheered on by Fox and Rush et. al.

I still don't get it. If enough GOP Senators had come the table, they could have held off a Public Option citing Republican ideology. But not this time. Now, with a bare 60 votes in it, even the likes of Lieberman can't opt out.

This is like a reverse Fascism poem (Niemöller).

First I spoke to the Insurance Companies, but they wouldn't speak up because I wasn't a shareholder; then I spoke to the Lobbyists, but they wouldn't speak up because I wasn't on the payroll; then I spoke to the Republicans, but they wouldn't speak up because I wasn't a Republican; then I spoke to the Media, but they wouldn't speak up because I wasn't an owner:

Then I passed the Act anyway.

(Edited - I couldn't leave the Waterloo reference buried in the text).

3. If Pelosi and Reid say 'they have the numbers' - on Health Care
they are staking their careers on it.

11. Exactly.
And when the Public Option (though I do hope it gets a better name) is a huge success, the republicans will be 0 for 3.

8. They're Fascist Pigs:
The 14 Defining Characteristics Of Fascism - here are two of the most appropriate:

2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights - Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

9. Corporate Power is Protected - The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

the 'Change that comes To Washington'. I thought we'd moved on. beyond all that.

13. I think it's the concentrated effort to basically take out the American people.
Even those in their consituency. It's disgusting. The PO is very conservative---or it might be. And these people are still fucking us. Repubs are disgusting.
