17. You continue to fail. Candidate Obama raised more money than ANYONE, EVER. He has all the access he.
...needs to as much money as he could possibly want. Obama is set for the rest of his life... books, speaking engagements. He doesn't even need to win re-election if he doesn't want.

As I said, you really didn't think this through did you.

4. The party made the mistake
of thinking that Joe Lieberman would be better pissing inside the tent than outside of it.

5. Democrats should have known better on the Lieberman thing
and Obama was wrong to agree to campaign for Specter. That said, to your question, no. And if Obama wanted access to the health insurance industry, I doubt he would need Lieberman for that . You can argue that Obama isn't doing enough to push forward a plan that would actually COMPETE with private insurance (mandates, etc..I think this is a valid point), but no, I don't think this was some evil plan for why we "kept" Joe.

6. Lieberman is a true dem
He is not a progressive. he is not a liberal. He is a Democrat (even if he is a 'independent', he is a dem, through and through)

10. Traitor Joe definitely is.
I don't know about Obama, and I really don't want to believe that of him. How much have they funded his campaigns? I think Obama just doesn't like the risk factor, and he is ultimately focused on his reelection. Bipartisanship, or the appearance of it anyway, is his ticket, in his mind. Not sweeping change, not pleasing his base, and certainly not universal healthcare.

13. The Democrats relationship with lieberman
is like one of those bad novels, where the villain keeps keeps doing awful things to the good guy, and the good guy keeps going back for more: Charlie Brown and Lucy with the football.

14. remember the Repub convention
where he said something like "I know what you're thinking...what's a DEMOCRAT like me doing here?!" Ugh. I usually think Mike Barnicle is a douche, but he did make me laugh the other day on Morning Joe when he suddenly said "Not that it matters, but I am SO SICK of Joe Lieberman!"

15. CT elected Lieberman and he could caucus with the GOP or DEMs - why help the GOP?
Edited on Sun Nov-01-09 06:13 PM by stray cat
is your plan really to make everyone you disagree with who is elected flee to the GOP? THAT sounds like the Palin strategy.

16. Lieberman is useful sometimes. He helped the administration conceal the torture photos
"House Passes FOIA Amendment to Hide Abuse Photos"

http://washingtonindependent.com/64025/house-passes-foia-amendment-to-hide-abuse-photos

Introduced by Lieberman and Lindsey Graham.

Does the handlers of the Democratic Party really want a public option? All it takes is Lieberman to stop it giving the rest of the Democrats a free pass..
