A misconception about Iraqi "insurgents" or "terrorists"
One BIG misconception about the war In Iraq is that Iraqis who protest our presence over there are neither "insurgents" or "terrorists". What we're doing over there is just killing Iraqis who don't want us occupying their country. And a lot of our own kids are dying. Not to mention money needlessly pissed away.

Our presence in Iraq has nothing to do with the war on "terrorism". The repugs are counting big on this misconception to win. Kerry and Edwards ought to be on this everyday. And of course, the media keeps repeating "Iraqi insurgents" when they report on Iraq.

2. I don't think many American have a clue
who's fighting what over there. Including the Bush admin.

It's a civil war, which we started and we are in the middle of with both sides shooting at us.

3. insurgents
whenever there is an occupation there will be resistance. THEY determined "insurgence" would be a more appropriate term for the sheep to sleep peacefully with

4. You're right. I hear "Iraqi insurgents" on the news ALL the time.
And when I hear that term I can't help but thinking of the U.S. Revolutionary War.

I'm sure England thought our Revolutionary War soldiers were "insurgents."

7. For instance, here's what Google News pulls up.
.
From Google News:

"Results 1 - 10 of about 230,000 for Iraqi insurgents.

Obviously this gets repeated in the media over and over and over again. That is frustrating.

Kerry could reframe the debate a little on this I think.

5. Awesome post, I completely agree.
I think of it like this...we invaded a country with no grounds. Now many many many countries hate Bush. We DO have weapons of mass destruction. If they chose to invade us because they felt that Bush was a danger to the world and the world was better off without him (Bush's words on Sadaam's removal) and THEN tried to restructure our government, would Americans just say thanks? (I would, but that's different). No, for the most part we would fight it tooth and nail. Would we consider ourselves then to be terrorists? I doubt it. I think the term they'd use would be "Freedom Fighters".

6. Thanks
It's just like the coalition forces did this and so on and so forth. I wish Kerry and co. would clear up some of these things.
