Has anybody seen the quicksand ad?
References to Iraq as a man is sinking into quicksand? I just heard Paula Zahn refer to it as "hideous." It must be REALLY good!

My take? It's brash, but I don't see what the fuss is all about.

3. What, was she criticizing moveon.org for the ad's content? Or just saying
that it is disturbing?

4. I think she was saying that the ad's content was too inflammatory
I just watched it and thought it was damn good! It certainly wasn't more inflammatory than the famous anti-Goldwater/little girl ad.

5. well, it is sorta cheesy, should mention 'bring em on', along with
pay disparity between troops and contractors
and lack of a plan for after getting to Bagdhad.

it could have mentioned all that if spoken right; i'm tired of ads not being more hyper-informative.

6. Ads are not meant to be informative.
They are meant to play on your emotions.

And anything that gets the GOP's dander up is okay in my book.

P.S. How anyone could interpret that as a soldier surrendering is beyond me.

7. I think it is good.
It gets one's attention and is illustrative of the point.

8. well, i still believe ads should be more informative, quality seconds
while simultaneously playing on emotions, perhaps. after all, that's what facts do when the facts are as horrible as they are about all of this.

as for interpretting a surrender, i believe that in the final frame, the way he is holding the gun, esp. without a finger near the trigger, could be percieved as indicating that. not that i think that is intentional, or that i personally see that or agree with that assessment, but i can understand someone seeing it.

10. I think they call it the Quagmire Ad
& I don t like it at all...the first time I saw it, it bothered me.

And then, I heard some criticism of it, so I wasn t crazy.

I don t think the troops should be used that way; things are bad enough for them, without using them like that.

And politically, I don t think it is real smart...it will turn off Indies, moderate Repubs, & some undecideds.
