The Woman Running for US Senate in South Carolina
http://www.moveleft.com/moveleft_essay_2004_09_16_the_woman_running_for_us_senate_in_south_carolina.asp

South Carolina may elect a Democratic US Senator in November.

Democrat Fritz Holling is retiring, and Democrat Inez Tenenbaum is running for the open seat.

"Inez Tenenbaum was elected South Carolina State Superintendent of Education in 1998 and reelected in 2002, receiving more votes than any candidate on the ballot," her campaign website notes.

3. Inez has a chance and God knows you sure don't want the
Repub she's running against in the Senate.

DeMint, her opponent, is a clueless dweeb who marches in lockstep with Bush & Co. His brilliant suggestion to replace the income tax? A 23% sales tax!

He's been drinking the purple kool aid, fer sure.

5. Report from the Ground in South Carolina
Inez has been relentlessly hammering DeMint on the tax issue, and it's been very effective of late. She's closed the gap to something managable, and I'm thinking that South Carolinians will want to hedge their bets, especially if at the end it looks like Kerry's going to win.
