that Sirius listernership is up to 600,000K, and 10% of that was just "last month"

(I'm one of them) I figure it's either because of AAR or NFL. but I would guess the former

8. Sirius preempts both the liberal and conservative stations

for football on Sunday. And since Air America just has reruns on Sunday afternoon, I think that's fine. Sirius Left has some good shows like Thom Hartmann and the Young Turks, and they also have Ed Schultz, who people seem to like.

he is an IDIOT, with a jive voice, too, and SHE is excellent, fired from WLS in Chicago when she ran for the senate

thanks for the headsup on the green stations......they have several other good choices, too

Michealangleo Signorile has a fine show on the gay channel, and the woman's channel has some interesting stuff, too

quite a few good music stations, as well

do you get the idea that there is a LOT Of redneck 'humor' on the comedy channels, though

at least they play Bill Hicks

11. Talk radio listening is very low on the weekends

Except for sports.

And Sirius paid a hefty fee to get NFL games.

If people sign on to Sirius as a result of listening to sports programming, this helps subsidize their other channels. So if you're a fan of the Young Turks, Lynn Samuels or Alex Bennett, the NFL helps to feed them so they have the energy to take on the Bush Administration via Sirius' airwaves. I don't think a Sunday afternoon is too much to ask, right?

Bennet's a bit on the moderate/conservative side (at least I think that's him, could be somebody else)...Samuels is just an old bitchy crank. She sounds like Fran Drescher would when she reaches 160 years old.

He was doing lib radio in the 60's.

Definitely nowhere near conservative, though he tells it like he sees it in regard to Kerry. He doesn't mince words, though he tones it down when he subs for Lionel.

He's more of a Howard Dean/Hillary Clinton kinda guy.

The guy before him, Doug Stephan, is more moderate-conservative. They probably needed a time slot to fill.
