If you work or live among moderates or conservatives ...
How do you think the race is going? Do you think Kerry is making inroads with people who would describe themselves and politically moderate or conservative?

1. Live and work with them

They don’t like Bush, but they don’t like Democrats either. They think Dems will raise their taxes and give that money to welfare cases. They seem to have no problem giving tax money to Defense Industry CEOs however. Also have the “moral class” who think Dems want to place Gay Porn on public tv after the local news.

We have a severe ignorance gap at play. The fact even the staunchest of Reps don’t like Dimson spells well for us.

2. I live among Pubs and I have not seen one sign for him or any response
to my T-shirts, signs, bumper stickers. One shirt has both *'s and says One Term Wonders. No comments.

4. Reporting for Virginia's tidewater region...
for the longest time I thought I was the only liberal here where I work, but over the past couple of months a dozen or so co-workers have let me know that they are Dems. too. Always in whispered tones, though because there are a lot of loudmouth ditto monkeys here at work.

One very encouraging sign is that I commute 60 miles a day up and down I-64 and I definately see more Kerry stickers than Bush stickers.

5. Well politics comes up constantly now at work
and that never happened before (I was here in 2000). I'm happy to report that many former Bush supporters have told me they're voting for Kerry. It's odd because they often come to my cube and tell me in hushed tones like they're terribly guilty about having voted for Bush (as they should be). Also many that voted for Nader and many that didn't vote in 2000 are voting for Kerry in November. Too bad we're in Illinois, but hey, I'm not complaining.

Edited on Fri Sep-17-04 02:53 PM by seabeyond
i was at a boyscout function last nite at a fundie school. my youngest 6, walking to car with his friend and fatehr. father saw kerry sticker, looked again, and looked a third time. by the third time his face was angry and rigid. grabbed his sons shoulder trying as fast as could to get away from my kids and get him into truck

oldest, 9, got in car and said it was so sad what happened. was like he didnt want child to see sticker. i though felt more like he felt he was amongst the devil himself.

was gross

now..............outside of the fundie people i am around, i do hear that many many repugs arent happy with bush but are still gonna vote for him because of evil kerry

no, i am not seeing kerry making any head way. the people dont listen to kerry,. they dont know nor want to know anything about kerry

8. good question..
I live in the land of Democratic Milk and Honey where today as I walked my young child home(age 7) she turns to me and announces, the boys at recess today were screaming "George Bush sucks! George Bush sucks!" To which I muttered, I hope you weren't screaming that--- even though it's true..." LOL..

Anyway this is DC so you know what that means...but the interesting thing is my husband works in and travels throughout the state of Virginia (traditionally hardcore Republican) and he says what's truly shocking to him is the number of Bush-Cheney bumper stickers he has seen though out the summer--barely a handful. He contends that it was completely the opposite in Summer 2000.

He is also one of only two Democrats in his office. The difference in this election he contends is that the number of co-workers (Republicans) who have decided they do not like George Bush is on the rise and a number have mentioned that they will be sitting this election out (!). Many of the Bushies who are voting for him are keeping quiet and have lost a bit of the swagger.

9. Lot's of conservatives here
This area is very conservative, lots of active duty military and retired military, and Kerry is not loved.

This state always votes conservative, and there is no talking to people about the issues and changing any minds.

All of the registered democrats could vote twice and still be out numbered by the registered republicans. I am surrounded, but have not surrendered.

10. no chance
Kerry is making no inroads here. I don't think any Dem presidential candidate could win NC. The R's could nominate a sack of dog shit and it would take NC (In fact, I believe they have). Edwards is highly unpopular, due mostly to the fact that he's been running for VP ever since the minute he took his Senate seat.
