"Pessimists and Nay-Sayers"
This is their latest talking point. I guess this means people like General Shinsheki, who said we couldn't secure the peace with so few troops. Or the many people who thought it was a little bit too optimistic to expect Iraqi citizens to be flooding our tanks with flowers and freshly baked pies. Or the many people who thought that the claim that Iraq could fund its own reconstruction with oil revenues. Or those who question the clip that Al Franken played today from Richard Perle a year ago, saying he would be very surprised if one year from now (meaning today) there isn't a square in Baghdad named in honor of George Bush.

Now that the situation in Iraq is getting worse and worse, the people who suggest we need to do something about it are being branded pessimists and gloom-and-doomers. I suppose we should just optimistically hope that Iraqis are just blowing off steam for a little while and that one of these days, they'll get around to bringing us those flowers.

1. The neocon scum were HORRIBLY WRONG about EVERYTHING.
They didn't get one thing right. Iraq has become this country's worst nightmare, with dramatic implications for years to come. I wish just one of their ilk would address the issues, confront the facts and level with the American people. We are about to have our asses handed to us in the middle east. Everything we had worked and hoped for is about to be horribly jeopardized.

3. And they've been just as wrong at home...
Their economic projections have been just as wildly off base as their projections for the war in Iraq. For example (I forget the exact numbers):

2001 Budget - Projected a surplus of $230 billion for 2004
2002 Budget - Projected a deficit of $15 billion for 2004
2003 Budget - Projected a deficit of $303 billion for 2004
2004 Actuality - A deficit of $440 billion. But since some economists thought it might be over $500 billion, they say, "see it's not as bad we thought - our policies are working).

Then let's throw in their little assumption that Al Qaeda wasn't a serious threat worth worrying about.
