Today's GOP BrainTwister: A vote for Kerry is a vote for a draft
You see, if we need 40,000 more soldiers, Kerry will have to reinstate the draft.

*Two* callers in 20 minutes on this to Ed Schultz' local show in North Dakota, one a woman who identified her as an "disabled American veteran" with two nephews in in Iraq who are terrified of a Kerry victory. Now sure whey those guys are worried about the draft, but nobody ever said Republicans make sense.

Sure sounds like a coordinated calling tree to me. Listen for his one on a favorite call-in show near you.

Remember this: If I've learned nothign in almost 20 years of opposing Repulicans, they will *always* try to accuse their opponent of the thing which the GOP is most afaird of getting caught out in or by.

1. Kerry can add 40,000 soldiers without needing a draft.

There are other ways to motivate people to serve without resorting to threat of imprisonment.

2. Another RW twisting of facts.........
As it happens, a you probably know, IT'S THE REPUGS WHO HAVE A PROPOSAL TO DRAFT EVERYONE up to 35 yrs old.

CAN THESE NITWITS EVER COME UP WITHSOMETHING ORIGINAL? They are stealing many of Dems policy talking points and turning their own misdeeds around to accuse the challenger. If I wasn't a nice person, I'd say that tactic is brilliant. :grr:

4. They always accuse Dems of doing what they themselves are doing
It's so predictable I've used it as advance warning about what they are getting ready to do or hide.

Edwards: No Military Draft if Dems Win

Vice presidential candidate John Edwards promised a West Virginia mother on Wednesday that if the Democratic ticket is elected in November the military draft would not be revived.

During a question-and-answer session, the mother of a 23-year-old who recently graduated from West Virginia University asked Edwards whether the draft would be reinstated.

"There will be no draft when John Kerry (news - web sites) is president," Edwards said, a statement that drew a standing ovation.
