3.) opportunist in the Armed Forces (used for access to political power)
4.) coward in Armed Forces (3 scratches)
5.) traitor to his country (Swift Boat, part deux)

Meanwhile they keep the steady beat of flip-flopping opportunist as background.

It's really very artistic, if you think about it.

But back to the question. What's next? It will probably conform to the above, confirming the underlying portrait of
Kerry as unfit for leadership since he's a flip-flopping opportunist.

1. Push a abortion, flag burning and Pledge of Alegence bills in

Senate.
They are already trying to force these votes before Nov.

We are already hearing--"Kerry is for the war when it is going well, and against it when things look bad."

5. Rove gave it his best shot, but

1) liberal isn't a dirty word anymore
2) Bush is an even bigger flip-flopper
3) Bush is no stranger to opportunism (used connections to avoid Viet Nam)
4) AWOL in the armed forces (if Dan Rather does what I think he's going to do, this will stick, not scratch)
5) The credibility of the Smear-Boaters is such that any subsequent efforts of theirs will be preaching to the choir.

The good news is that Kerry has caught on, and he's beating back words like "failure" and "smear and fear" and "fantasy land of spin" and "blame-avoiding." If Bush ducks out of the debates, he can also add "coward."

What happens next, I think, depends on what Dan Rather does next.

If Kerry has good people now, now's the time to throw Rove off balance and keep him staggering and trying to get up.
