POLLS SHOW KERRY ON A ROLL
The latest opinion polls on the US Presidential race reveal that the volatile contest between George W. Bush and John Kerry is back to a dead heat.

Surveys by the Pew Research Center and Harris Interactive show Senator Kerry has wiped out a solid lead enjoyed until now by Mr Bush.

The president's advantange had been forged with a month of attacks on his Democratic rival capped by the Republican national convention.

The Pew data showed the Massachusetts senator clawing his way back from a 12-point deficit among registered voters interviewed between September 8 and 10 to a 46-46 percent tie four days later.

A Harris poll of likely voters published in the Wall Street Journal had Senator Kerry up 48-47 percent.

4. If you have a thought in your head, you'll vote Kerry.
He may not be able to get us out of the mess * has gotten us in to (nobody can, mho) , but he can pave the way.

5. Remember the Repub's spin:
After the convention, it was "It's all over now but the voting."

I guess that was spin and wishful thinking rather than intelligent commentary.

19. Nope fine.
I am beginning to think That Gallop has been taken over by a conservative organization, or that U.S.A. Today is paying them an enormous amount of money to get the results they are getting, as Gallops results are well off compared to almost all of the other pollsters. Having Bush 15 point ahead right now is something that no pollster or pundit finds ven possible. I think that the RNC ahs simply bought them outand everytime polls start looking good for Kerry, Gallop starts polling for them.

11. Someone needs to investigate the gallup polls then?
What the heck is going on?

Is it a close race?

Or, is Bush walking all over Kerry?

12. We'll have to match up polls from the past few weeks to get an idea
Edited on Fri Sep-17-04 01:48 AM by jpgray
It's really hard to get a complete picture by comparing individual polls to each other in isolation--however combined with others a trend can be recognized and a general picture of the race's current status can be obtained. Based on three other polls I've seen recently, the Gallup sounds like an outlier, but maybe next week we'll see that it's actually an early indication of an upward trend for Bush. It's tough to tell at this point.

15. Gallup is never the polling agency you turn to for accuracy.
They have only been accurate in elections in which the Republicans have won big like in 1984 and there it appears as though it was only by accident.
