Why can't Kerry stick to one slogan for Bush?
We went from "W stands for WRONG" to "The Excuse President" in 2 days and now those have been abandoned. How does he expect anything to stick if he doesn't reiterate it?

20. sorry, but the poster has a point. the public is looking for a
sound bite. I personnally love the excuse president, that is great it points to all things bush. kerry needs to make that his slogan, it's easy to say, kinda catchy, and it's almost like calling bush a flip/flopper.

21. I agree, there's lots of flexibility in "the excuse president"
Edited on Fri Sep-17-04 11:01 AM by CarolynEC
"There goes George Bush again, making excuses."

"Instead of offering solutions to (insert issue here!) he gives us lame excuses."

"Instead of taking responsibility, he makes excuses."

"Mr. President, no more excuses."

:)

Edited to add: Definitely makes a good talking point for us-all when trying to convince an undecided (a real undecided, not a Bush apologist in swing voter drag). "Why vote for Kerry? Because he's a man who takes responsibility for what he says and does. From his 1971 testimony to his vote to authorize war with Iraq, John Kerry thinks things through and sticks to his guns."

3. Because he can keep more than one thing in his head
at a time. Bush knows only one thing. Terra, 9/11.

4. 'Turning the corner' 'I'm a peace president' etc.
Edited on Fri Sep-17-04 09:55 AM by jpgray
Every campaign does this. Of course the media's expectation for Kerry is different than that for Bush.

8. Aren't we being picky...
That's not how Kerry really does things. He had "Bring It On", but that got tiring quickly. W.'s already got the angle on mindless repetition.

10. Because then...
Everyone would complain that he's simply reciting the same old tired lines day after day -- and the media will tune him out if he doesn't come up with some new material.

If he said "W stands for Wrong" again today, nobody would cover it, because it wouldn't be news. They likely won't cover it much, anyway, because he's a Democrat, but he has a better chance with fresh sound bytes.

12. He had a winning taunt with the "Excuse President" one. I don't know why
he doesn't keep repeating it. Maybe he is and big media has decided not to repeat it.

17. Well, I guess that's true
They've found a factual campaign message that nobody can deny...

We are on a path to the future. In fact, our whole future is ahead of us. And our entire past is behind us. We must move forward to the future, and we can only look back to our past.

Bush stick to the same old time lies. Is that better. It sticks because it's true. Who's head does it need to be drummed into. People aren't stupid except for those like *.

18. Jeez Louise, jump down KingofRock's throat why dontcha...
It's a valid point... repetition of a single, simple idea is how marketing is done. If you don't think a political campaign is similar to marketing an idea or a product, fine, that's your right. But why get all pissy at someone just for raising the issue? Jeez.

or "Bush Sucks Worser" -- okay, now I'm just being silly. KingofRock does have a point and we should be a bit kinder to the new folks (that includes me). So King, here's your toast:
