UPCOMING KERRY MEDIA BLITZ:
Edited on Thu Sep-16-04 09:50 PM by Pirate Smile
UPCOMING KERRY MEDIA BLITZ:: Kerry appears on "Live with Regis and Kelley" and CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman" on Monday, tapes "Dr. Phil" interview on Saturday...

http://abcnews.go.com/sections/politics/NotedNow/Noted_Now.html

I had heard of the Letterman appearance but not the "Regis and Kelly" or the "Dr Phil" appearances.

13. I think Chimpy and Pickles were supposed to talk about kids.

Last week the president and Mrs. Bush quietly taped a long interview with Dr. Phil, the psychologist made famous by Oprah Winfrey. By tradition, the Bushes are notoriously wary of "couch stuff," as Bush 41 put it. But with Dr. Phil, the topic will be limited to parenting and, as one of White House adviser says, he generates "very high numbers," especially among women. The interview will air in September. In this war, it's territory Kerry will want to invade, too. But Bush is getting there first.

11. These are good appearances
Let the public see him in a friendly setting. When you see Kerry in person, he comes off as being warm and compassionate. He's no John Edwards, mind you, but in these situations, he won't look as stiff as he sometimes does in the evening news.

People don't like Bush, they just need a reason to like Kerry.

18. Dr. Phil?
Maybe he'll join in the chorus asking Kerry to get tougher: "open up a can of whoop-ass on that boy."

And when shrub's on, maybe he can counsel them on his dry alcoholic problems.

I remember in 2000, it all started to go wrong after Gore and shrub were on Oprah. She virtually accused Gore of saying his favorite cereal was "Wheaties" to get votes. Gore should have scolded her for wasting valuable TV time with trivial questions. I'm fond of Post Great Grains, myself. Should I run for office?

Bush acted like an idiot on Oprah, but I think Oprah liked him.

How about that Oprah, giving all those cars away. I think it was a tasteless stunt and emblematic of the consumer society. What if you don't need the car? Are you still supposed to jump up and down and act like an idiot?

I hate Oprah. Who's with me?

22. Thanks for the heads up. About Oprah's stunt
"What if you don't need the car?"

I'm not an Oprah watcher (well, once in a great while) but I did hear that she pre-screened the people in the audience. The show was going to be about something like "who has the oldest, ugliest, rattiest, beat-up car" and that's how they knew that everyone there really DID *need* a car.

I understand the question, because I wondered myself. I don't have, want or need a car, so I thought, if I were in that audience, I wonder if I could sell it? Then I heard what I wrote above.

It was a good deed. She's pretty good at good deeds, so I could never hate her. Lord knows we need more good-deed-doers.
