Is there any proof that the little girl ever had the sign, not the father?

The picture that seems to be going around shows the father holding a piece of the sign, not the little girl:



Doesn't it show that the father, not the daughter, is holding what's left of the sign?

Here is a quote from the Washington Times article:

How do you hold a sign "jointly"?

It sounds like he's trying to imply that she was holding it, but he never says the girl was holding any sign on her own or that it was taken from her.

This looks like a false story unless someone has video or pictures of the sign being taken from the girl?

If the sign was taken from the father, and the girl just happened to be there, then how is that different than any other protest where the right wingers take signs from fathers and mothers of Kerry supporters?

Seriously, if someone knowingly exploits a child, as this jackass did, he can hardly be a fit parent. What sort of man exploits a child like this? I find it scary.

This story is a set up. The fact that it appears in today's Washington Times after being blitzed through the AP->Yahoo->Drudge/FR connection confirms my initial feelings.

And to further your point - it is absolutely clear that the father was holding the sign, not the daughter. What is unclear is whether the kid started wailing as a result of the "attack" by the supposed union member. I suspect she wasn't particularly happy to be surrounded by a hostile crowd to begin with.

Classic disinfo. Set up an incident, propagate the reports, generate pseudo-grassroots indignation, watch the mainstream lap it up like the complacent enablers that they are.
