Bush is tough on terror? Really?
This is just incredible. Bush declared this guy was some super terrorist and now he's being flown to Saudi Arabia in a U.S. military plane with no charges filed against him.

How does Bush get away with this shit?

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6012286/site/newsweek/

Sept. 15 - The first U.S. government-declared "enemy combatant" in the war on terror will soon be released from a military prison in South Carolina under an agreement that will allow him to fly home to Saudi Arabia as a free man, administration officials tell NEWSWEEK.

The agreement to free Yaser Esam Hamdi represents a stunning reversal for the Bush administration, which argued for more than two years that the former Taliban fighter was potentially so dangerous that he had to be detained indefinitely in solitary confinement with no access to counsel and no right to trial.

But in a landmark ruling last June, the U.S. Supreme Court ordered that Hamdi, an American citizen, be allowed to consult with his lawyer and challenge the basis for his imprisonment. This pushed the case back into federal court and forced the Justice Department to mount a hasty retreat.

The result, officials say, is a highly detailed agreement that is expected to be made public later this week. It will result in Hamdi being flown back to Saudi Arabia on a U.S. military aircraft without ever being charged with any terror-related activity—a symbolic victory for critics who have long pointed to the case as a prime example of what they see as the Bush administration's overreaching in combating the terrorist threat.

3. Bush is the terrorist...where's your brother BinLaden?
Bush can't catch BinLaden. Allowed Al Sadir to escape. His coalition of the willing is running away. His Afghanastan puppet was almost murdered. The Taliban has re-grouped. Sleeper cells have multiplied. Bush can't get Iraqis to rat on their own citizens, can't gather secret information. On...and On...and On...and he is great on Terror. He is great at creating Terror, that's for sure.

Funniest thing I heard today on TV. In an interview with Saddam Hussein's lawyer, the lawyer claims that there are no charges against Saddam. He wants Saddam free before the Iraqi elections because Saddam will run for President, and he will win.

4. How does gw* get away with it?
The reason would have to be the one given by Mrs. Knox in 60 minutes interview by Dan Rather.

Bush didn't think he had to go by the rules

How tough is Bush, really?
From China to Iraq to Afghanistan to Russia, the president has a proven record on flinching and yielding, time after time after time

In this campaign, Republicans have portrayed President Bush as the political equivalent of a New York City firefighter: strong, manly, eager to rescue those in need, and utterly fearless in confronting danger. It's a safe bet that the words "toughness" and "resolve" got used about as many times at the Republican National Convention as "combat" and "veteran" were heard at the Democratic gathering--which is to say, beyond counting. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) set the tone in praising the president: "He has not wavered. He has not flinched from the hard choices. He will not yield." Bush himself boasted, "I will never relent in defending America--whatever it takes."

By contrast, Republicans accuse John Kerry of having a pacifistic allergy to weapons systems, as well as a craven tendency to appease ruthless enemies, such as the French. Relying on him to protect the nation's security, they suggest, would be like buying a pet rabbit to ward off burglars.

What's most surprising about this whole picture is how much it leaves out. Anyone looking at his record on defense and foreign policy can see that Bush indeed has flinched and yielded, time after time. What this president has proven is that Republicans can routinely get away with behavior that, in a Democrat, would be labeled wimpy.

Most people have long forgotten the crisis that erupted early in his term, when a U.S. spy plane landed in China after colliding with a Chinese fighter. When Beijing demanded an apology before it would release the crew, Bush refused, only to back down. In the end, the administration issued a letter saying it was "very sorry" for the plane's intrusion.

7. Kerry came out swinging on that today
Finally brining up the Osama word, and accusing Bush of letting Al Qaeda escape from Tora Bora in 2001. Did you see Ken Mehlman on Charlie Rose tonight. He looked like he swallowed a turd. Kerry's speech to the National Guard must have hit a raw nerve. This is the one area that Kerry can lay it on Bush with that can have at least some effect on reversing BUsh's image as being stronger on terrorism.

9. His speech was great
He told them Bush had stood there and not even mentioned to them the 1000+ dead in Iraq, or what kind of sacrifice they were making. Bush not telling them the truth.

All Cheney could say in reply was, doh, you can't tell the truth if you're a decisive leader, because that might make it look like you made a mistake.

8. It all depends on what the definition of tough is.
You see, George Bush really is tough on terrorism. But he does it in a rather unique way. It's sort of like a reverse psychology. Instead of actually catching Osama, he makes it look like he doesn't care. This is all a trap. Osama is out there thinking that Bush is weak, and not paying attention. Nothing could be further from the truth. Bush puts on an air of intellectual shallowness. But he is really waiting. Waiting for Osama to make the wrong move. You know, like trying to fly an airplane into a building again. Then they'll nab him. Or like the time that the terrorists hijacked planes and crashed them. Any ordinary person would have gone right after those responsible. Not George. Why he used reverse psychology- What did he do? He sat and read The Pet Goat. Who would have ever thought? Not a single terrorist alive would have ever imagined such a thing. See? He caught everyone off guard. And that's just what you need to do with today's terrorists. It used to be that you could simply catch them and put them in handcuffs. But not any more. Now days you need a strategy. And we all know George Bush loves a strategy. So by sitting and reading The Pet Goat, George Bush has actually increased the chances of catching many more terrorists than he would have by actively persuing them in a timely manner. There's just one problem. George is running out of time. If he only had about four more years, he could effectively deploy his final phase of his plan. So next time anyone says George Bush isn't tough on terrorism. Tell them to think backwards. The world of crime is never what it seems.
