Why doesn't anyone notice that most people's taxes were raised?
This is one thing that truly perplexes me. It seems that most people are so lost in (what should be very simple) math that they think they got a tax cut. But they are overlooking the fact that their tax cut is from borrowed money (the deficit and from the Social Security Fund). Is it really that complicated? The middle class got a tax increase.

The CBO recently reported on the smoking gun for crying out loud.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/5689001/

Those making an average of $180K or above saw their share of the tax burden drop by 1-2%. Those making middle class wages in the 50K-75K range saw theirs rise by 0.8%. It's a smoking gun. A tax burden increase is a tax increase of the worst kind. It applies to the current bills, but it also applies to the accumulated $7 trillion deficit and the future deficits Bush is planning.

Congratulations middle class folks! Bush raised your taxes and sold it to you as a tax cut. Did you think he could raise government spending, cut the tax rates of the wealthy, cut the dividend tax, and borrow the entire Social Security surplus while giving you a tax cut too? It's only a tax cut if the government defaults on the cash advances Bush is taking from your credit card and giving (some of) to you so you think you are getting a tax cut.

1. and people think Kerry will raise income tax... truth is 98% under Kerry
plan would be ZERO change!

Married couple making 190K / yr two kids....same rate as under bush plan.

Only the top 2% would see their tax adv. go AWAY.

People don't know this.

2. My property taxes have gone up the past three years to make up for the
shortfall. Gym, music, art and other activities have been cut at public schools, or have to be funded out of pocket by parents. Another one of those "unspoken" taxes.

4. the Red Ink Republicans
call those "unspoken" taxes "fees" what a joke! Add to that the lousy raises if any people have gotten or worse they've lost their good paying jobs and taken ones where they earn less. People that actually work for a living have less $ to live on under Bush*

One other thing, let us not forget about our soaring health care costs, ya know, this economy down right sucks!

Kerry in a landslide!

6. Need help with facts and copy for ads focused on Bush tax cut mirage!
I'm hoping someone with a clear understanding of economics can help me with a new series of ads focused on the economy, especially the non-existent tax cut issue.

I've been writing and designing ads that have so far been very well-received here on DU. I've included a few samples below, but you can download the full-resolution versions from my site at http://www.bigpath.net. As you'll see, most of the ads are very Anti-Bush and mostly centered around Iraq, Lies and Vietnam, etc.. I really want to address pocket book issues like jobs and taxes. I'm good with visuals and certain writing styles, but I'm very unsure of myself with economics.

If you'd be kind enough to take a look at some of the high-resolution ads on the site, I'd really like to "partner" with someone who can either review what I'm doing or supply me with the raw material. I realize this may be a little vague, and I apologize, but it's been a long day.

Many thanks!

The ads above, as well as others, are available as free, full-size, high-resolution JPEG or PDF downloads on my web site at http://www.bigpath.net.

7. And most rich people (outside top .5%) earn less income
And they earn less so that the top .5% can get their guarnateed increased income without having to work to earn it.

So even the people who got the tax break, most of them are just paying lower taxes on less money, leaving them with less money after taxes.

And the reason they're making less is directly related to paying lower taxes. You just can't create a wealthy society when you're not investing in the future and in human capital.
