1. I believe the originals were destroyed at Administration's orders.
That is how Rove knew they were "fakes". Burkett may have "reconstructed" them from memory.

2. Got a copy of that "order"?
YOu see, unless there was an order to destroy those docs, then there's a problem.

7. I've never done a link. Hope it works. It is not a copy of the "order"

4. and Rove had advanced knowledge of the CBS "story" and prepared
the "hit team" and font angle w/ Buckhead Bob?

If that is the case...then Burkett gave Rove a "golden apple" to spin vs CBS, Dan rather...and more

I don't think Burkett would do that...he would have to know Rove had copies originals (and kept them this whole time-- shocking).

3. Rove didn't need to believe they were fakes
Rove found whatever he could to raise questions.

The questions raised about the memos are mostly b.s. They were dubunked here on DU. It's clear that a typewriter of that era could have typed those memos.

Nobody has proven them to be forgeries. Nobody has proven that they couldn't have been typed.

All Rove has done is succeeded in raising questions and by getting the rest of the media to repeat that they are forgeries over and over again - he's succeeded in getting most people to believe that they are forgeries.

But there's no proof of that at all. Just because Rove says it doesn't make it true.

5. ok - but using that logic , Rove is on defense...not offense and this is
a "offensive plan".

Rove would be playing with SERIOUS fire and could blow the whole campaign - if those were real.

It seems like it was a scripted offensive ploy by Rove and comp....not a "defensive" plan.

6. I think that the memos are real
I know I am in a minority on this. I honestly believe that the memos area real, or else are recently retyped versions of real existing memos.

I think that BushCo has been worried about something like this happening, and they had contingency plans in place. There's nothing new in their "kill the messenger" strategy. Rove's defense is always an attack.

9. Really - thinking the memos are genuine is the minority position? Well,
count me in the minority then.

10. I agree - typed in 72 or between 79 and his death in 84 if the Secr memory
is correct.

There is no reason to think they are not real - except LATimes, and Fox and ABC are selling that line.

Even GOP whore NBC is not going too far beyond "there are questions".

8. If Rove says it - it's NOT true. Has Rove ever been caught in a truth? nt

14. Absent actual proof they are forgeries
they must be assumed to be authentic. The who, what and where are plain and simple. I must have missed the part were they were actually proven to be forgeries.
