Isn't that the headquarters of Kerry supporters that forge documents to save the nation from a worthless lying weasel?

Or is it the home of J. Maynard Pickelson Jr., the one link to Rove that exists in Abilene, who will do anything ever since Rove blackmailed him regarding the "hamster incident" of 1969?

I report, you decide.

20. found that also...
Mr. Bartlett called the Burkett allegations "outlandishly false" and accused him of being part of a group of disgruntled former Guardsmen critical of Maj. Gen. Daniel James III, head of the Texas National Guard before Mr. Bush promoted him to head the National Guard in Washington.

Gen. James' office referred all calls to Col. Stanford.

Mr. Burkett and other Guardsmen were critical of discipline standards and other issues under Gen. James.

Mr. Burkett said from his home near Abilene that he remains loyal to the Guard.

25. not "didn't happen", but "no recall"
Edited on Wed Sep-15-04 09:28 PM by Must_B_Free
George O. Conn, a former chief warrant officer with the Guard and a friend of Burkett's, is the person whom Burkett says led him to the room where the Bush records were being vetted. But Conn says he never saw anyone combing through the Bush file or discarding records.

"I have no recall of that," Conn said. "I have no recall of that whatsoever. None. Zip. Nada."

Just like Reagan's "I don't remember". There's a "that", but he doesn't want to lie, so he "can't recall"

Since that is exactly what freepers do when somebody's private information is posted over there. She fails to distinguish between posting somebody's private information and linking to a web-based public site. More importantly, she fails to understand that DUers don't harrass people. We leave that to freepers. They do it so well.

This whole 'they're fakes!' mess can certainly be traced back to freakreap. But I don't think it was Eva. I think they have their own operative that started it. Instead of investigation CBS, Congress should demand the freakreap list and investigate the intial posters of the "take a look at this!". That's the best place to start.

so Killian would have another copy off of the base for safe keeping? Wouldn't that be a kicker?

Also, about the WH admitting that additional documents are going to most likely be released:

1. How come the article didn't acknowledge that the WH was supposed to have released all of the documents?

2. I wonder if the new documents are even more damaging? I hope so.

42. Yes, absolutely
Almost any fax machine can print out a listing of all faxes that were sent, how many pages, what time.

When I fax from my work fax machine, I get a copy of my cover sheet with printing at the top showing the number, time, and pages sent. I wonder if that kind of info is stored and if a cover sheet was used IF this story has any truth. Could just be more misdirection.

48. Another plot twist! Not sure what to think about this and how it matters
Edited on Wed Sep-15-04 09:45 PM by jefferson_dem
If we have to find out where the docs were delivered from, i guess i'll take it being a Kinkos in Abilene.

64. "In a related development, White House
"In a related development, White House press secretary Scott McClellan hinted that more documents regarding Bush's National Guard service may soon be released. Asked whether officials in the White House have seen unreleased documents, McClellan called that "a very real possibility." Other officials with knowledge of the situation said more documents had indeed been uncovered and would be released in the coming days."

96. Where'd they find THESE new documents?
How many times has the White House and Pentagon assured us that they've released all of chimpy's records, only to "find" some more a few weeks or months later?

I would think even the tools in the media would be getting tired of covering for that level of bush-shit by now.

I wonder if a single one of the documents released by the WH or Pentagon are real?

66. If you bring in Burkett seems like you have to address this...
"In news interviews earlier this year, Burkett said he overheard a telephone conversation in the spring of 1997 in which top Bush aides asked the head of the Texas National Guard to sanitize Bush's files as he was running for a second term as governor of Texas. Several days later, he said, he saw dozens of pages from Bush's military file dumped in a trash can at Camp Mabry, the Guard's headquarters.

The Bush aides Burkett named as participants in the telephone conversation were Chief of Staff Joe M. Allbaugh and spokespersons Karen Hughes and Dan Bartlett. All three Bush aides and former Texas National Guard Maj. Gen. Daniel James have strongly denied the allegations."

FROM THAT WASHPOST LINK....

65. They alluded to that in Wednesday's story:
....Mr. Burkett declined to return telephone calls to his home near Abilene, Tex. His lawyer, David Van Os, on Tuesday repeatedly refused to say in a telephone interview whether the officer had played a part in supplying the disputed documents to CBS. Mr. Van Os said "the real story is and should be, where was George Bush?" and that Mr. Burkett "is not the proper object of attention."

Mr. Van Os called Mr. Burkett "a man of impeccable honesty who would not permit himself to be a party to anything fake, fraudulent or phony." He also said, in response to questions, and stressing that he was speaking only hypothetically, "If Bill Burkett were to later discover that something he was a party to were fake or phony, as a man of honor who lives by a code of honor of the military, he would not permit the falsity to continue." But, the lawyer hastened to add, "This is not intended to be any kind of specific statement."

Asked what role Mr. Burkett had in raising questions about Mr. Bush's military service, Mr. Van Os said: "If, hypothetically, Bill Burkett or anyone else, any other individual, had prepared or had typed on a word processor as some of the journalists are presuming, without much evidence, if someone in the year 2004 had prepared on a word processor replicas of documents that they believed had existed in 1972 or 1973 - which Bill Burkett has absolutely not done'' - then, he continued, "what difference would it make?"...

73. If its Burkett, this is WAY beyond TANG thirty years ago.
Ahhh....scrubbing...

I'm all for taking Bush down on the atrocities of the war and his malfeasance in other areas such as this jobless "recovery", but they also got Al Capone on tax evasion.

Whatever sends him back to Texas is fine with me, and if this memo thing does it, fantastic.

Edited on Wed Sep-15-04 11:11 PM by Pirate Smile
Did he know of or was he involved at all in the 1970's stuff or does this mean he found this stuff out (we know it is true via Killian's Secretary) in the 1990's?

So Shrub wasn't just a slacker in TANG in 1972-1973 but we can tie in the lies and scrubbing of the late 1990's to get Chimpy ready to run for Prez?

98. So will the new documents the WH has miraculously found include
the order that Killian's Secretary confirmed tonight was made to * to take his physical that Shrub ignored?

So if Burkett did send the information, it means he saw something to this effect in the late 1990's, not the 1970's, pre-scrubbing by Hughes, Barnett, etc.?

Am I crazy or could this actually be more damaging to * now if it is proven that Burkett actually "forged" or "recreated" documents that should have been included in *'s file but have not been released or have been scrubbed?

It is always the cover-up, baby.

Let it be true because that puts it in the 1990's, not the young and stupid days.
