Help! Am I breaking the law
I have created some letter size flyers that I print and take to Kinkos, paid for by me, and posted on bulletin boards and telephone poles near an urban campus.

Am I breaking campaign laws as an individual because I do not have a disclosure on my flyers?

For example this flyer?

Go to http://somnamblst.tripod.com to download high resolution TIF or PDF file to print.

1. No
It's called free speech. Now, if you were accepting donations that were tax-deductible, that would be a completely different story.

10. I ran that poster as well and put one in every mailbox
in my neighborhood, which is not legal by the way. I had to give one to everybody, including myself, just to get to one in particular neighbor. He is so conservative he walks like Fred Munster, works for Halliburton and has an 18 year old son.
I just had to do it!

4. First of All
You did a FANTASTIC job on that flyer! Kudos!

Second of all, you can post and distribute any fliers you want as an individual. You are not bound to any campaign laws. Just make sure you're not putting them on or in places that are private property where the owners might object, or get their permission first.

to put up in laundromats.

A sheet informing to REGISTER to VOTE

The deadline to register (Monday October 4, 2004)

and reminding them TO VOTE on Tuesday November 2nd

and reminding them that speeding tickets, parking tickets, late rents/utility payments will not be collected and can NOT stop them from voting.

Excellent flyers.

6. Like everyone else that post bills in this urban environment
I post on phone poles, campus bulletin boards, boarded up windows on abandoned fast food restaurants. I am not the only one, posting bills, but I am the only one posting partisan political speech. And I know I left good fingerprints on the tape I used.

I also planned on doing car windshields

9. No you are not.
That said, for that very reason I like to put "This flyer printed and paid for by a private individual, not by any campaign or organiation." down at the bottom. It makes me feel better.

12. It's the telephone poles
The flyer is fine but there are laws in some places against putting stuff on telephone poles.
