"October Surprise" Predictions
We all know it's coming. But what form will it take? Post your predictions now, and reap the bragging rights later.

Steak dinner on me for whomever nails it.

My prediction: Bypassing "Orange" and going to "Red" Alert.

if come election day or very close to it, bush is convinced he will lose. that he will A. launch another war or B. use executive authority to suspend the election. C useing his "good" judgment will not, and cannot allow a change in power in the middle of a vast war on terrar. it wouldnt be good for the country.

29. Can it GET much worse?
Now he's colloborating with the enemy, then comes back here and tells everyone American soliders are murderers. So, so far, he has:

Not legitimately won ANY of his medals
Wounded himself to get a Purple Heart
Had a 'grand plan' from the get go to become a hero
Lied about all his battles in Nam
Testified in his own words and recollections ( :eyes: ) that American soliders are mercenaries, murderers and worse
Collaborated with the enemy

Have I covered it all? HOW much worse could it GET for god's sake?

WAY too many 527's on their side, when is it OUR turn?? Ive never seen so much material to use on one person, but we dont seem to be using it.

Kick 'em in the balls and get it over with!

16. Oct Surprise.........
During VP debate, Edwards goes after Chaney for Halliburton. In response, Chaney grabs at chest, falls face first on to table. From out behind the curtain comes a crash cart and a med team. To finish the debate, Bush's new VP choice takes his place. Bill Frist then bounces up on stage swinging a dead cat at John Edwards.

37. My guess is that the October surprise will happen in November,

on election day. Claiming "overload" or "system problems," or even "terrorists," the big oil people behind * will take down the grid, nationwide, or at least in states with the most electoral votes, or where Congressional Dems are a shoo-in, on election day. This will tie up traffic and make communications difficult. Many people won't be able to vote, and nobody will be able to know what's going on. When the grid comes back up the media will announce that * won, and Kerry will have to spend millions contesting the phony results of a non-election.

49. Ugh. That is so plausible it makes me naseous.
I am incredibly optimistic about Kerry's chances, but I can't shake the little voice that says hahaha, they aren't going to give up power that easily.

And if/when this kind of travesty happens, they will just say "Hey, the polls were close all along, even showed a Bush lead, what did you expect?"

Many of us will be outraged of course but not enough to make a difference. Many more will just say "Kerry blew it" or "We shoulda nominated someone else", or worse yet, "Get over it, we lost." We will be marginalized as whiners, conspiracy theorists and ultimately, just a bunch of sore losers.

This is my Worst Case Scenario. A total fiasco on Election Day, and an election tied up in the courts while * smirks and the Courts go back and forth until of course the Supremes rule against us again and Cheney certifies * for 4 more unelected years. This is what my nightmares are made of.

But most of the time I have great faith in Kerry and in the voters to do the right thing and in fate to intervene and bungle their devious plans.

53. In "Votescam" I learned that some of the traditional

ways of rigging elections involved the voting machines or vote tabulators "going down," a media pause until they come up again, and then, when everything is "fixed," a sudden reversal of the voting trend. One of the brothers who wrote the book was running for a local office and they were watching the returns on TV. Suddenly their lead doubled and then everything "went down." When things were restored, their lead had disappeared. That's what started their investigation.

But since this is a known tactic, doing it simultaneously in as many precincts as necessary would be too obvious. On the other hand, since big energy is backing the chimp, I realized that they could simply take down the grid.

Our organized poll-watching wouldn't do much good if people couldn't get to the polls (traffic lights not working, etc.), and there would be all sorts of problems at the polls if there was no electricity--voting machines wouldn't work and people might not be able to see well enough to use paper ballots.

We simply have to be prepared for this type of traditional election rigging done on a much larger scale than before, and be ready to simply not accept it. We CANNOT accept it. No more of this stuff about averting civil war and bipartisan civility. To paraphrase an old patriot, this time I feel it has to be: Give me democracy, or give me death.

Going to court is a waste of time and money. It was SCOTUS that put us in this situation last time. I didn't contribute to the Kerry recount fund for this very reason. If we had an unbiased, nonpartisan SCOTUS, I'd make a contribution. We don't.

In 2000 Gore got more votes than the chimp. Do you know of a single person who voted for Gore who plans to vote for the chimp this time? In 2000 Nader got a sizeable progressive vote. Almost all that vote will be going to Kerry this time. The chimp has alienated large numbers of his base. He won't get fiscal conservatives because of the deficit. People who voted for him and have since lost their jobs, their pension plans, their health insurance, or their kids' lives in Iraq, won't be the solid bloc they were in 2000. Sure, some cannot recognize their own interests, but a significant number can and already have. Maybe there was one, but I can't remember a "Republicans for Gore" campaign in the 2000 election. Kerry has most of the youth vote, primarily newly registered voters, and many people of all ages who haven't usually voted, have been outraged enough by the chimp's policies to register so they can help vote him out. There seems to be a RW media and RW pollsters pretense that many people are so terrorised that they'll vote for a chimp to protect them. But since these hypothetical people obviously don't feel any safer now than they did on 9/11, most of them will come around by election time. Kerry has been all over the TV and is coming on stronger every day. I don't believe the race is even close, and I can't imagine anyone who gives it any serious thought would believe that it is close. Given a fair election, Kerry will win in a landslide. And the pukes know it, even if some of us haven't figured it out yet.

And Kerry doesn't cave. He isn't going to ignore the popular will and bow to some political committee. He can't--Teresa wouldn't stand for it.

They pulled that scam the last 2 elections. Too obvious. Besides there aren't many Senators left that are uncorrupt enough for them to kill.

Byrd's an old man. If they wanted to take him out, they'd make it look like natural causes.

Unless you meant Kerry? Nah, even the Republicans would figure that one out. The BCE's greatest asset, apart from the media whores, is staying just inside the lines of open criminality to where the sheeple can ignore it. The obvious assassination of the competition would be the end of that scam.

...yup, I predict that the repugs will attack the homeland (probably CA or NY, some place with more liberals) a day or two after raising the terror alert to red (so they can claim that their new intellegence measures predicted it). Then they will blame the attack on Muslim terrorist. You all saw how 9/11 brought people together, and behind the pres...they are hoping this will as well.
