GOP Media is pushing meme that Dem voters don't want Kerry they're just
voting against Bush.

I think it's past time we send a message that we are voting FOR Kerry AND against Bush.

What say you? New DU poll to send a message to the Republican media and their operatives who work these boards?

1. I'm voting for John Kerry
And by damn he's gonna win! And so is my husband! We want an intelligent president, not the village idiot!

2. I adore the guy
Like I said in another thread, this is getting ridiculous. I'm like a teenage groupie with a crush. I'm the kind of Kerry-bot that makes Bush-bots look downright human! ;)

3. Uh, so what?
Talk about desperation.

It doesn't matter if we're only against Bush. IT. DOES. NOT. MATTER.

Is this a pathetic attempt to steer votes to Nader? Because they already know we ain't voting for BushCo.

6. yes. It is, imo, their way of steering votes to Nader.
They also want to make Kerry seem unpalatable even to Democrats.

It's pure psyops, but I think we should combat it and not let them get away with their spin.

11. But you should see some "progressive" forums online....
I am a refugee from AlterNet, where I had been posting for several months, but some new Naderite posters came in and blasted any of us who were for Kerry. They nit-picked Kerry worse than they ever did George W. Bush who they also claimed to hate. Every posting of theirs was to attack us "Republicrats" as they called us and kept repeating over and over that Kerry = Bush. I got so tired of seeing them posting BushCo talking points that I attacked back and got tarred and feathered for calling them "Rovians in sheep's clothing". I left that site before being suspended as I wanted to call them trolls, but that violates the "civility" code over there.

13. Those Naderites are idiots
Our nominee is without a doubt the most progressive since Dukakis and they think he's like Bush. The sad thing is, I've read that many conservative democrats think Kerry is too liberal, so while these purists complain, they refuse to keep things in perspective.

26. I really think if people looked at things closely
They'd find that Kerry is actually quite liberal, opposes death penalty, now I couldn't say that about Clinton, 92% lifetime from the LCV, 100% lifetime from the NAACP and Human Rights Campaign, and many more examples. The truth of the matter is, if we ignore Kerry's solid record, we're making a mistake, all this stuff he has done has mostly been in our interests, that is the people's.

24. Kerry has a simliar record to Senator Ted Kennedy
A Progresive Icon and in fact I think his record is actually slightly more liberal, his personality and demeanor are different but Kerry is a fighter like Kennedy, and I am glad of what hes been doing.

I have little faith in those who choose to undermine a Kerry win, knowing full well what a vote for Nader would do to help Bush*.

4. everytime the freak -- excuse me, the freeper -- crowd says
something like this i have to laugh. actually, i laugh at the thought of them. no, not really. the emotion's more like pity.

not to sound like hank kimball or anything ..... but they spent 8 years hating clinton with every fiber in their doughy, fleshy bodies. a literal shrub could have run in 2000 and they would have voted for him.

john kerry's a class act and a good man. he'll make an excellent president. and for freepers lurking on this board: why are you guys such bitter losers?

5. Every election that involves an encumbant
is a referendum on that encumbant's performance. This election is no different.

That said, I'm happily voting for John Kerry AND against Bush. I can do both.

7. that's such fucking bullshit
The more i learn about Kerry the more I love the man. I heard about how he handled the Rodney King ordeal, what a class act. My support of Kerry is more than just he's not Bush, he's without a doubt one of the best politicans of my time, haven't agreed with him on everything but damnit I respect him and admire him, and want him to be like Kennedy was to his generation to mine.

9. Who really gives a damn, all votes for Kerry are against bush.
If you make a lousy golf shot and it ends up in the cup, it never shows on the score card. When Bush loses will it matter why we voted against him?

19. It's part of their spin game. It isn't aimed at you and me...
it's aimed at the more casual voter or the ones who may be persuaded that there is no reason to vote FOR Kerry. Depress the voter turnout on the left or push them towards Nader.

12. You know whats even worse is
that there are many of us who are too young to vote, and then we see some of our peers say I am not voting, admittingly I didnt vote in homecoming because I couldn't think of anyone (I later did) but in a way it was sorta a protest that I can't vote. Damnit, I would so vote for Kerry if I could vote, I love the guy when I read about him more and more.

they are saying "these people are voting against Bush because they hate him, but the aren't necessarily voting for Kerry, so vote for Bush"?

23. I have to admit
I've liked John Kerry for a while :). Remember Santayana said those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it, many people forgot or were ignorant of the many things Kerry has done, this to me was an indicator honestly. Not criticizing you, just saying I am glad I had Kerry high up early on.
