Does Bush remind you of Custer?
I was just reading some websites about Little Big Horn, and found some interesting parallels:

George Armstrong Custer...emerged from West Point at the bottom of his class where he had amassed a huge number of demerits. His success in the Civil War might be attributed to his unorthodox methods and the wild charges he led with no concern for the scouting reports, if he ever read them. He had the highest casualty figures among the Union division commanders. However, he himself emerged unscathed...

In 1867 he was brought up on charges of abandoning his command (to visit his wife) and having (other) deserters shot on the spot, sans hearing. He was convicted, on both counts, and sentenced to a year's suspension from rank and pay, including forfeiture of salary. But 10 months later he was reinstated by General Sheridan to lead the campaign against the Southern Cheyenne in Oklahoma Territory...

(In one raid) he had had no scouting done before the dawn attack and had no knowledge that thousands of other southern plains Indians were in the immediate area. The effect of this was a result, the small detachment led by Major Joel Elliot, which had ridden off in pursuit of escaping Indians, was wiped out. Custer returned to his post without even searching for these men. Their fate was not discovered for two weeks until their remains were chanced upon. However, Custer had a way of making himself a public hero...

(At Little Big Horn) He would not believe his scouts about the size of the camp he was about to attack. He divided his forces to attack from two directions and thus was undermanned in both places. When the young scout, Curley, a Crow, made his way back to the waiting riverboat on the Big Horn River to tell the story of the battle, he was not believed, nor were other Indian versions of the battle. The myth took precedence over the truth. Only recently has his version of the battle been found to contain the basic truths, from new archaeological work on the site.

George A. Custer and the Battle of the Little Big Horn

*******

This all has a vaguely familiar ring to it.

Success is not a synonym or fact that gets anywhere near Chumpy.

5. Not really.
If you read Stephen Ambrose's "Crazy Horse and Custer: The Parallel Lives of Two American Warriors," it shows that George Custer was actually brave in battle, if foolish and racist in other areas. But he had big balls. George Bush is a coward, who lacks balls. And that's why he has to pretend to be a tough guy, wearing his Power Rangers halloween costum on the air craft carrier, etc.

12. Well in some ways.
But Custer served in the military. He also fought in battles so he wasn't a coward. Foolish as well as other bad qualites, but he was a better man than *.

14. Well.....
Custer was a cracker headed ignoramus
Bush is an ignorant cracker.

Custer rode into battle with his men and put his life on the line, ultimately losing it due to his stupidity.
Bush rides other to battle with his stupidity, letting them lose their lives while he packs cod pieces in flight suits.

Custer completed his commitment to the military. REALLY completed it.
Bush didn't and won't.

Custer was court marshalled for insubordination.
Bush should be impeached, but will not be.

The Indians danced for joy on Custer's corpse.
Bush dances for joy on the corpses of Muslims.

Custer was a hole in the head warrior.
Bush is a holy warrior.

Custer attacked defenseless camps while the braves were out hunting and killed the women and children.

Bush orders women and children to be bombed, and goes hunting for golf balls.

on the demise of bush's term in office.

15. Custer was a helluva lot smarter than Bush
Edited on Wed Sep-22-04 07:28 PM by Gman
and didn't do anywhere near the stupid things Bush has.

He may have been at the bottom of his class, but Custer got into West Point on his own merit, not his dad's.
