Okay.. I found that story while researching the odd situation of a website named www.rathergate.com, which was created on September 10th (well before things exploded on Rather), which makes it all quite suspect!

Anyhoo.. the article I've linked mentions a veteran named B. Burkett who supposedly blew apart Rather's documentary series about Vietnam, from years ago, by supposedly proving that Rather was lying about the vets he featured. This man wrote a book about it.. His name.. is Burkett. Have I lost my mind? Or isn't the man at the center of all this crap this week named, Bill Burkett? And didn't his daughter claim that he's only doing this to promote a book he was writing? Rather and Mapes' poor fact checking on this story and stubbornness to admit they were wrong, all of which sidetracked the issues of the election for more than a week and has inoculated Bush from the real questions regarding his service that other news organizations, who did credible reporting (Boston Globe, US News)... and you guys are happy with Rather? I think it's pretty obvious Rather's ratings spiked because they were waiting for a mea culpa. Whether his ratings stay up going forward remain to be seen, though I seriously doubt they will.
