A Waukesha County Bush-Cheney campaign official says he is prepared to offer a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of vandals who damaged a 4-by-8-foot campaign sign at North Shore and Capitol drives, just east of the village of Hartland.

Former Town Chairman Kent Woods, who also heads the sign committee for the local GOP presidential campaign effort, suspects political sabotage rather than a random act of vandalism.

"The first time it happened, when someone stole the sign, you might be able to suspect it was the act of vandals," he said.

"But the second time, when the sign was cut by a utility knife, and now that it has apparently been sawed into pieces, it is more than just the act of vandals, it is an act of political terrorism," he said.

paint and often have the dripping red word "Liars" written across them. Of course, no one is tearing them down or stealing them, just making them a little more accurate.

I really wish Democrats would take the high road on this and refrain from engaging in these tactics. Pull a Gandhi on them and force them to face the consequences of that type of behavior. Americans suffer from the same personality "flaw" as the Brits. We like to see ourselves as a paragon of virtue, justice and fair play. If one group of people can be shown to be quite the contrary by non-violent means, it can be a very powerful message.
